I’ve waited for this book to be translated since 2017. I’ve decided to just MTL it. Can someone explain to me who or what Yu Ren is? Better yet please help me translate Yu Ren into English because I’ve no idea what “Yu Ren” has to do with Bai Fu Ling or any of the other characters—unless the meaning has been lost in the MTL. Thanks in advance.

Well, basically there are 2 main plots. One involve the mystery surrounding her family (mainly about her parents).
And the other one, involve our ML, Hai Fushi and the prince, Yang Heng —and his throne struggle.
I dislike him because he wanted everything. He wanted both BF (Bai Fuling, our MC) and also the throne, and wasn't able to let go any of it. Also when the first time he saw BF, he thought she was pretty but arrogant and wanted to make her as his concubine for her family influence (mainly her foster brother, the general.)
1. Lu Ying
BF's ideal husband prospective, he had been working hard and aiming to be BF's perfect husband ever since BF stated that he should marry her, shortly after her parents took him in.
Unfortunately it all went wrong because of the idiot, egoist Emperor and the shameless Cui family.
BF stated that he had an image of kind handsome.
2. Yang Heng
The egoist prince, I guess fruit fall not far from its tree. First time he saw BF, he was enamoured with her beauty and wanted to make her his concubine, plus to gain LY (the foster brother)'s power. Although, later he truly felt in love with BF.
He was first thought to be the abandoned prince, but that wasn't the case. The Emperor wanted to let the opposing powers to fight each other to death, then get rid of the other two princes and make YH the crown prince.
But of course, once the idiot Emperor managed to get hold of the court's power, he was reluctant to give it up to YH, and plotted to get rid of YH.
BF describe him as dangerous handsome.
3. Ci Guo Wei Mao
The prince from the small tribe near BF hometown. He was bought and healed by BF on the same day BF rescued YH. Of course unlike the ungrateful prince who soon calculating to get close to BF, CGWM was truly grateful at BF. He took her as his savior, his goddess and worshipped her.
After, he only appeared near the end, where his answer reassured BF to go back with the ML below.
BF describe him as wild handsome.
4. Hai Fushi
The newly appointed leader of Jianghu. He was kind, gentle and innocent young man. He easily blushed at BF's advance.
He firstly met BF when her family journeyed to the capital. On the way, group of bandit plotted to rob BF and her family. They encountered HF's group. BF told her bodyguard to not act against the bandits, she wanted to know how HF would handle them.
BF's first impression on him was that he was a similar type as her foster brother, totally her type.
BTW, BF type of man is the kind, honest, responsible and easy to bully.
Once the pervert prince tried to get close to BF and licked her ear (ewww...). Not long after, she met HF, and to relinquish her anger, she told HF that she wanted to tell him sth in secret and gestured him to get close to her, then she bit his ear. He was in shock (bc BF managed to let him let his guard off) and blushed, while BF left in laughter, fully satisfied.
Since after, he chased BF and told BF to take responsibility for biting his ear by marrying him.He was YH's half brother. They had the same father, the idiot Emperor, and their mothers were siblings, with HF's being the elder sister.
So his other identity, and also his real persona was GAN SUI, the leader of evil sect. He inherited the title from his mother.
So his mother and YH's mother were from evil sect. Both felt in love with the Emperor and the younger sister was willing to be his concubine. To be able to leave the evil sect and marry outside, YH's mother must eliminate all of her martial art skill. GS's mother wasn't willing to abandon her martial art, so she didn't marry the idiot Emperor and stayed as the evil sect's leader. (good judgement)
Anyway, she dig many secret underground tunnels to the palace, so she could protect her younger sister. She also often secretly met and sometimes copulated with the idiot Emperor in that tunnel (WTF was she thinking?!). Those activities resulted in her being pregnant with GS.

Earlier it was described that both of her parents was very ugly. Their face was deformed. When BF first reincarnated, after seeing her parents' face, she was so scared that she didn't dare to look at the mirror for days. BF always thought that her relationship with her parents was like frogs given birth to a phoenix. They always bragged to BF that they used to be famous in the capital as the beautiful couple, which made BF thought that her parents was very narcissistic.
But everytime BF requested sth, no matter how absurd it was, they always managed to fulfilled it. BF then speculated that her parents had relation with the capital, probably the dark side of it.
They used to work as spies/assassins for the Emperor.
The mother's father (MC's maternal grandfather) was the illegitimate son of the Emperor from 2 generation before. Which make the mother's father -the late Emperor's brother, and the mother as the idiot Emperor's cousin. The illegitimate son (MC's maternal grandfather) was adopted by the Duke and then inherited the Duke's position.
BF's mother was very beautiful which make the idiot Emperor wanted to take her as his concubine (SERIOUSLY why did YH's mother fell in love with him?!!!).
The idiot Emperor and BF's maternal grandma (her mother's mother) didn't allow her to leave with BF's father. So the idiot Emperor sent the father on assignment and gave the mother 2 choices, either stay or get rid of her martial art and face by consuming gu (a curse). The grandma thought that she would stay, but instead the mother chose to consume the gu. The grandma regretted it and gave her the cure, but they were given by the idiot emperor and the cure was fake. Father got back and upon seeing that, he also consumed the gu and left the capital with the mother.
Basically the earlier plot was BF's search for her parents' cure.The father used to work as assassin in the opposing side as the mother, he was the leader of some famous assassination group. After he felt in love with the mother, he resigned and work with the mother at the capital (which strengthen the idiot Emperor's power).
He thought that he was an orphan but actually....
His family used to be poor and his father was sick, so to buy the medicine, his (BF's father) mother sold him. Later his mother regretted it very much and searched everywhere for him, but didn't manage to find him before she died.
The father's father (MC's paternal grandpa) became a high ranking official, his other 2 sons died. When MC's father was cured and walked in the capital... the grandpa saw a glimpse of him and gathered info about him. Later he announced to the world about MC's father's identity and they made up.
He was afraid of anyone who threaten his position. GS's mother was rather powerful, so he let YH's mother be killed by the Empress... then at the critical moment of GS's mother's cultivation, he informed her, causing the cultivation to lash back and her to be possessed.
BF nicknamed him the "great devil", of course only in her thought, she didn't dare to speak it out loud.

GS's mother already predicted that he would betrayed them, so she poisoned him. YH's mother, however, made a cure for him with big effort, which weakened her and enable the Empress to kill her.
However, YH's mother didn't directly give the cure to the idiot Emperor, she put it in the 2 pictures of her and her sister. As long as the idiot Emperor saw the pictures once a month, he would be alright.
At the beginning, he put both picture in his study (or was it bedroom). But after he get rid of the Empress and his 2 annoying powerful son, he exiled YH (took back the crown prince title) and put the picture in the storage. 3 months later, he was critically injured. He begged for GS to cure him. GS agreed as long as he abdicated and made YH, the heir. GS cured him, but he became Alzheimer.
He really was innocent, but too bad MC got rid of that notion once she found out about his identity as the evil sect leader. He always threatened her, that he would killed her families and servants if she wasn't obedient, but actually he never did anything to them. Also too bad that after that, MC always diverted her eyes in fear, so she couldn't see him blushing.
Hilarity ensued when he threatened BF to pay him, after he did sth for BF. He told her to kiss him. BF instructed him not to move a finger and gave him a peck in the mouth. Irritated at the non reaction from the ML, she sat on his lap and gave him french kiss. He was trying to endure by gripping the wooden seat very hard, causing the seat to break. He then tried to cushion the fall.
MC's maids heard the sound and rushed in, and here was what they saw....

The maids stared BF in contempt, blaming BF for seducing the young innocent man.

Not sure what do you want to know, but...
She ended up with Hai Fushi —an honest, gentle and innocent young man— the new leader of jianghu. He had complicated past relating his identity, secret identity and other persona.
P.s. Yang Heng, the prince, was the love interest that annoyed me the most.
