Earlier it was described that both of her parents was very ugly. Their face was deformed. Father got back and upon seeing that, he also consumed the gu and left the capital with the mother.
Basically the earlier plot was BF's search for her parents' cure.The father used to work as assassin in the opposing side as the mother, he was the leader of some famous assassination group. After he felt in love with the mother, he resigned and work with the mother at the capital (which strengthen the idiot Emperor's power).
He thought that he was an orphan but actually....
His family used to be poor and his father was sick, so to buy the medicine, his (BF's father) mother sold him. Later his mother regretted it very much and searched everywhere for him, but didn't manage to find him before she died.
The father's father (MC's paternal grandpa) became a high ranking official, his other 2 sons died. When MC's father was cured and walked in the capital... the grandpa saw a glimpse of him and gathered info about him. Later he announced to the world about MC's father's identity and they made up.
