The story is still ongoing, so it hasn't ended yet, even with volume 2.
Cyril definitely cares deeply for Sophia, its just not as a love interest at the moment, but its slowly changing.
I... can't spoil the cute moments because that's like 80% of the novel. Way too many of them to summarize. Here's one though:
Spoiler: Sophia's WishThere's a moment later when Cyril gives Sophia a 'wish' that she can use to make him do whatever she wants, as an apology because of convoluted reasons I won't explain because it would take too long.
She said she hadn't decided what to use it for, but was blushing at the time, so Cyril could somewhat guess what she was going to eventually ask of him. She ends up using it for another event though (again, convoluted and not really summerable), and ends up asking Cyril at a later time if what she wished for was his love, would he grant it. He then asks her if she really wanted to know the answer to that question. To which she replies that its fine, because she'll find out the truth on her own eventually, and that he should prepare himself for that.Its a very endearing moment with more context. When Cyril feels like time had stopped and as if they were the only two people in the world. All the while taken with how beautiful she looked in the setting sunlight.

Thank you once more Goddess. Currently satisfied (was actually gonna make a 3rd edit at that point if one of those CTs were gonna be a hidden route but you already went far and beyond *even answering the what happens to the other CTs on the OGplot like Sophia being a brocon)

Edit: Kinda surprised Cyril's OGlife he was already in his 30s (after rereading your comment and counting, he's still close to 30). The way you translated the prologue made me assume he was early to mid twenties but not that far in age *I may remember things wrongly though*
