The emperor is cutely stupid. Heck, I can sort of understand him clinging to her so fast and hard since I have some rather horrid insomnia myself. If someone could instantly put me to sleep I'd cling to them like all hell. She's like a heaven sent savior to him. At the same time he's thinking about her when he proposed so quickly. Her entering his chamber every night would ruin her reputation no matter what the "truth" was. Now that he can rest he's thinking and acting like a normal-ish person despite his role in the novel as an obsessive tyrant.
I'm guessing the switching of the MC with her sister is helping him de-stress a lot more since the MC isn't actually trying to leave him seriously while the sister had her lover and was honestly running away forever at the first chance. While the emperor still has the fear that the MC will disappear and re-sentence him the torment of never sleeping again till the day he dies. Does anyone know why MC doesn’t tell the Emperor that his half-brother is a traitor and wants to get the throne?

Or has he killed all reliable people because of insomnia and now there’s no one smart and adequate left in the Empire to work for him?
