Anyone who says that art quality wasn't lost clearly skimmed through Berserk chapters. They vaguely captured the style, but the difference between Miura's hand and Studio Gaga's is insurmountable and obvious to any discerning eye.

Nah, it's just as good as their individual work with Duranki. It's as close to Miura's art as we will ever get. The nuances from his microscopic attention to detail aren't there, but the difference is not that big, just noticeable. While we do of course lose a bit in quality, their work with the art was great here.

I maintain my position. But it was not unexpected. It's just going to be frustrating listening to fans who can't tell or will pretend that there's no difference in the coming months. One thing that was lost was the weight of Guts' sword, which has been a staple since the very beginning of the manga. I expected them to be a little more careful with these little things but alas, they're going really barebones on production.

Btw Duranki had better art. I did read it, thank you.

Guts’ sword definitely still had its weight. Don’t have a clue what your talking about.

It almost feels a bit cheeky that they are advertising this as "the second of two chapters." We know the manga has been terribly delayed for so long now, but with Miura's passing we have an idea of why that may have been now. So, I'm just not sure how I feel about them trying to promote this continuation by pushing chapters for the sake of chapters. I guess we'll see how everything goes from here, but just something to note.

Obviously the art will never be the same, so it may take some time to get used to the new style. But, with that being said, I'm not a fan of this style of art. At least, not out of the gate. I'm going to finish this series, one way or another, so maybe it'll grow on me or even get better with time. But, so far it's a bit jarring.

In terms of content, go figure Griffith is still staying just out of reach. I'm ready for a proper confrontation, but hopefully we'll get some dialogue between them once Guts has calmed down just a bit. I imagine he's going to have to cross the boundaries between worlds if he really wants to kill Griffith.

Hoping that we return to classic Berserk and a bunch of monsters (or Zodd/Griffith) kill all the stupid loli witches, mermaids, elves, etc. Then march about with their heads on pikes.

Was the last time you read Berserk 2005 or something? Talk about being out of touch.

I binged it 2016/2017 and then read every chapter on release. I'd wager that it's a common opinion that people prefer grim-dark Berserk compared to the boat arc, etc.

I like all of Berserk, but there's little doubt when the peak was.

There aren't many people who got into Berserk because of characters like Schierke or Isidro. Most people got into Berserk because of how violent, gory and intense it was.

There is no need to be rude friendo.

Yeah but if that's your main draw, you're going to be disappointed.

I do agree, I mostly got into from the Dark Fantasy as well, and I really enjoyed the Black Swordsman arc, and I thought Conviction was my personal favorite part; but I certainly appreciated it not stagnating and how it expanded its scope after the fact.

While I'm not a fan of vanilla fantasy like LOTR, at all, even I really appreciated Berserk's take on it, because none of that dark stuff went away at all; that side of it was just center-stage to start; we have to see both sides now. Deep darkness can only exist under bright light, as they say.

There were always two sides of "magic" and this fantasy to explore.

But yeah, not gonna lie, getting really tired of seeing this bullshit of "loli witches go kyaa" meme. Oversimplifying and missing the point, in my mind.
