No matter how strong you might be, it wouldn't matter if you can't hit your opponent while it dishes out all the damage itself. Even Zodd with his horn looking like one big hairstyle got overwhelmed along with the other Apostles.
Perhaps they're buying time for some super-powerful beings to provide back-up. Or maybe a giant vacuum cleaner's on the way~
