The Skull Knight looks sooo cool and is quite mysterious... how did he know so much about guts and the future?

griffith seemed bored in the last panels, almost as what he was doing was just another tuesday

The Skull Knight gave me chills. That scene with him and Guts was cryptic and terrifying.

love that image in the volume's opening pages with a fragile, broken Griffith tucked into himself.

Oh, hold on. I’m back to say that I’ve just come to the realization that this might be where Griffith’s downfall is. The thought of losing Guts (because of friendship and all that) is so distressing to Griffith that something snaps. Griffith realized that Guts was crucial to the fulfillment of his dream, and he wanted to accomplish his dream at any cost. Losing Guts all of the sudden, again, must’ve made Griffith snap. He acted rebellious — blinded by a rage of sorts.

That’s what I’ve gathered at least.

I didn’t know if there was a reason Griffith seduced Charlotte, but I think this is all there is to it. He’s really just sad Guts left.

If that’s the case, then Griffith really just screwed himself and his dream, as well as all his soldiers. We see that Griffith ends up being an antagonist (as a part of the God Hand) … and maybe we’re seeing why earlier on. That he’s self-conceited and only interested in his own goals. (?)

Who was that Skeleton Knight I wonder? Griffith wants to have some fun with the princess, bad decision bro

He kissed her. :o Guts leaving has made Griffith irrational and impatient. I assume he figures the princess is infatuated with him enough. Still, he's strategically, being too hasty, and morally, I hate him taking advantage of the emotions of that naive girl.

Zodd and now Skull Knight, two forces predicting Doom. From the unpleasant gaze in Griffiths eye it seems that it might just come true.

The Skull Knight appeared and brought a cryptic message to Guts...!

Griffith visits Charlotte. He seems disturbed and cold and now he trys to jump all the steps by taking advantage of an inexperienced young girl and wants to make her his!

The downfall has begun....!

So, that's the Skull Knight. Some pretty cryptic words that, quite frankly, completely change quite a few things I thought I knew going by the anime.

Too many people talking about "Skull Knight"... that scene was definitely badass, but come on, wtf did Griffin just do!?

I think we're starting to see a glimmer of unjustness in his character. He was always this angelic figure, but he clearly does a lot of things with only his self-interest in mind.

Gah. How unpleasant. Really didn't wanna see the adolescent princess Charlotte in these circumstances. And we all know Griffin isn't a saint -- we can imply this as he turns into one of the God Hand as was revealed in the prequel chapters -- but what I'm getting at is, I really didn't wanna see sweet, pure Griffith in these circumstances either.

As disturbed as I am, I do praise the author/illustrators' decision to implement a scene like that. Not only did I find some meaning in it, but it was a key part of the plot. It wasn't some random, unnecessary fanservice sex scene like they do in the movies... Griffith's sexual little outburst is clearly causing a great deal of progression in the plot/story. -- And now he's found himself under arrest. And Charlotte's found herself at the mercy of her father, who has discovered her virginity blood. It's cause and effect done right.

I don't know man. I dooon't know. Very uncomfortable but from an analytical standpoint, the implementation is admirable.

I'm guessing Griffith's will turn evil according to that Skull guy.

This implies Griffith was good before exactly. Which he never was. Griffith has always been ambitious and clearly the kind of man Capable of teetering to chaos. Even Zodd said it. It’s his destiny. I really liked that Guts questioned if leaving the band was worth It though because It shows how human he is. Don’t we all get worried when we leave something comfortable for the sake of an unknown better? But I’m glad he took that first step for himself without relying on somebody else’s dream. And I feel like It makes him the strongest character mentally than all of the band of Hawk
