THIS IS AN MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER.

                ----------------------------------------

This chapter put a lump in my throat and made a fly get in my eye.  It's the only manga to ever do that to me.

I havent seen the two OVAs of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou so I dont know if they animated this scene, but I can imagine an anime adaptation ruining it with long close ups of Alpha's shimmering eyes amid an over the top music score.

What I love about this chapter is how understated it is.  It's simple, concise; it doesnt manipulate or dwell on what's occuring, much like the entire concept of mono no aware, the moment is over in a flash and all thats left is the feeling.

Very nice chapter with the calm and the slowly coming of both the subject of the conversation and the passing of time itself.

Eventually it will get even more quiet... Once Ojisan and Sensei... Well.

You can feel the sadness within Alpha in this chapter.

I really need to go see if Bookoff has this and give it a re-read.  I'm a huge sucker for the mono no aware.  I just always end up buying new stuff instead. D:

Ow. Most people just get dust in their eyes.

Hmm... Chapter 122, Watermelon Day. It's similar to my other favorites by starting with a mundane scene but gradually becoming more emotional. Even though the conversation appears to remain colloquial, there's so much being said without being explicitly stated. The words are simple, nothing preachy, fancy, or too idealistic, but they're somehow able to make the reader feel the gravity of the situation: the passing of an era and the passing on of a legacy.
