First off....the "confession." Well, it was a HUGE shock to me. I'm really intrigued, but I've got to admit, not happy AT ALL. Not just because I'm a huge DouWata shipper. I actually never expected a totally canon confirmation of DouWata (though I hoped) or of any pairing, tbh. But if Watanuki and Himawari were to get together, I'd hope they'd have a better confession than that! It seemed like an afterthought. "Oh, yeah, I love you." Like the sort of thing you say to your family before you hang up the phone. Not "We're together and love each other so much the fact we can only see each other once a year kills us." If it *were* love, I'd hope they had feelings like that. And without seeing Himawari's reaction and face when she said that, I don't think anyone can say conclusively what type of love they feel. And remember, CLAMP is infamous for pushing the boundaries of what love is and the types of love you can feel for different people.
The next impression I had was "OH SNAP" when Watanuki hung up and Doumeki was right behind him. Doumeki is ALWAYS there! Open your eyes Watanuki!!!! *sigh* Even if you don't ship DouWata, their friendship is seriously warped right now. I'm getting more and more afraid about Doumeki's fate. His "I still have to decide" while making angsty faces terrifies me. Doumeki has been my favorite character for so long now, and with how he's being treated I just don't know what'll happen. I have a really bad feeling. I think he's going to have some unhappy fate. (as in death) (although his total dismissal from Watanuki right now is also a pretty depressing fate)
I feel like, at this point, the entire key to the manga is what Doumeki chooses. Once he makes up his mind, and however the egg is used, will be pivotal. We've known that the egg is really important for a while, but I think it might be even more important than anyone can guess. (how exactly, I'm not sure) I'm really afraid for Doumeki, though. I have a feeling at this point, we're not going to get a happy ending, and I'll be devastated with almost anything...and CLAMP hasn't had a *really* bloody ending/super depressing manga in a while, so I think they're having withdrawals. And I think out of everyone, Doumeki will be the one to suffer most.
