Bleach Chapter 686 Discussion

Read the raw for now, will (obviously) reread later when the translated version comes out.

Well Chad seems to be enjoying a nice boxing career. Orihime and Karin are looking good (in more ways than one). And I guess Ishida changed his mind about never becoming a doctor. Ichigo's kid subdued that evil reiatsu by simply touching it? Seems like he's already more OP than Ichigo lol. Now that I think about it, Ichigo's kid looks like he's about 5 or 6, so damn, Ichigo got it in really early since he and Orihime are only like 27. Having babies straight outta college lol.

To say this ending was really disappointing would be an understatement. Like @BigBoss mentioned, where is Urahara, Yoruichi, Nel, and Grimmjow? They weren't even in chapter 685 either so we never got to see what happened to them at all. So many unanswered questions and plot holes. It's unfortunate that Kubo had to end it like this, but he also shot himself in the foot tbh. So many fights during the arc could have and should have been half as long as they actually were. That way he could have used more chapters for the final fight and for a better conclusion, but it's too late for that now. This arc started off pretty well honestly, but then it turned into.......this ending. And the announcement wasn't even about the anime returning, just a pointless live-action film that's bound to be terrible. Even if this arc completely crapped out at the end, I'd still like to see it animated someday.

I guess the only good thing that will come out of this ending will be the saltstorm that this thread will inevitably become because of the angry IchiRuki shippers who'll be more upset about their pointless and stupid ship not sailing, instead of the fact that Bleach's ending was fucking terrible to the point that it made Naruto's ending look great.

I wonder if the butthurt shippers will pull a Naruto over on Gelbooru.

naruto had a legit terrible ending tho. Problematic as hell too. This is like the polar opposite of that.

Not the ending, mate. On Gelbooru, every single picture with Hinata or Sasuke is downvoted to oblivion. It's been going for well over an year now.

:'(

rip Bleach. The whole arc could be better if Kubo actually plans his writing.

I know people will bash me for this, but at least it was a better ending than Naruto in all honesty... basically because I hated Naruto at least from Shippuden in its entirety except for a few arcs (including Pain Arc). For Bleach only a few arcs were completely shit, so at the same time I can somehow understand a bit through it. The ending wasn't as bad, and it was actually expected from the start, though it felt really underwhelming because Orihime's love was rather one sided, then again, Ichigo and Rukia really didn't had a romantic chemistry either.

Btw I'm not siding with NaruSaku though just because NaruHina happened, and same would be applied with IchiRuki and because IchiHime happened, but in all honesty I can somehow try to understand where Kubo was going towards a bit. Though for fucks sake though.

I can't really hate Bleach in all honesty, at least I'll leave it slipped there and just leave it there, no complaints and no baby shitting. 6/10 in the whole manga series.

So this either says... Kazui either destroyed Yhwach's... or it absorbed into him. I'm willing to bet the power absorbed into him, as Yhwach can "see into" the future and planned to emerge and later on down the track (if other artist else pulls a Boruto) and Kazui gets partially taken over by Yhwach in a future event.

but for our sake lets just say he somehow destroys it.... -_-

Bland as fuck ending. I literally felt nothing. Ichigo x Orihime and Rukia x Renji.... bah! Feels like Naruto all over again. The RenRuki kid looks really retarded. Like it shouldn't have existed. With the repetitive and formulaic fights, abandoned plot points and pairings, Bleach gets a 4/10 from me. Shame, this series was one of my gateway anime.

So exactly why do you guys think Kubo was "forced" to end the manga? I'm asking because I found this entire final arc to be an incredibly boring failure, just like Hueco Mundo or Fullbringer arcs.

From the beginning to the end the villains always had the advantage in fights; good guys winning at the very last moment in just a few panels; cheap deaths that were often negated; an enemy that wiped itself out twice, rarely letting the good guys get a win; several plot threads left without denouement; Ichigo never became as strong again as he was when he defeated Aizen while his new abilities were always blocked without showing their potential; and a final battle that was so one sided against them they only won thanks to a "Hail Mary" attack.

The moment when Kazui absorbed the final villain by sticking his hand into a hole is emblematic of this entire series, in my opinion. You got a guy who is strong only by the virtue of being born special, who defeats his enemies with no effort. That is also true for most villains, just look at Aizen or Ywach, who won most of their battles by pulling a new secret trick from their hats.

The problem most people don't want to acknowledge is that Kubo wrote a much more ambitious arc than his own writing abilities would allow. And it's not just a problem limited to this arc either. Aizen's defeat was also one of those moments that readers expected to be great, but it all got solved when Urahara revealed his macguffin technique who imprisoned Aizen, making the confrontation between the latter and Ichigo pointless.

Battle mangas live and die by how satisfying those battles are, and this is Kubo's biggest flaw, that for 15 years of publication, very few battles that he penned were actually satisfying. Add to this some very poor world building, characters who make grandstanding speeches just for the sake of it, and you have a manga that will never live up to expectations.

That is the only reason why Bleach is a bad manga. Not because of "haters", not because of evil Shueisha "forcing" Kubo to end the manga. The failures of Bleach lie only on Kubo and Kubo alone.

cannot help it since Shounen Jump maybe the reason why Bleach has a rush ending like this if this joke of Kubo really has a double meaning behind it lol http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1540493

It was obvious that Bleach got canned. WSJ just didn't like Kubo's snail pacing where he gives every character a fight lol. My guess is that he would've still dragged the manga on for a year. The Yhwach fight was obviously rushed and complete nonsense even for Kubo's latest writing.

ye Kubo really have slow pacing no doubt about that

the slow pacing is my only problem with Bleach manga to be honest until this rush ending

It's one of the things that killed Bleach really. That and Kubo's devotion to showing every single character fight lol. I mean did really anyone even want to spend chapters watching characters Omaeda fight? It's good that he uses his characters, but there should be a limit to everything.
