I think one becomes shinigami after getting nameless asauchi. When he was still a kid Zaraki stole a nameless asauchi from a shinigami he found/killed in District 80 and made it his own. Using that asauchi he won against Yachiru Unohana.

Much later in district 79 Zaraki asauchi became "named sword" but he never head its true name. Little girl that he found was his sword manifestation he named Yachiru.



Makes sense in Yachiru vs  Guenael Lee that She did not use any release command there. She used her own abilities being Zaraki sword spirit. I wonder if Zaraki has more than 3 aspects of his Zanpakuto since his sword spoke to him when he fought Unohana.



I wonder now - shinigami claimed that Zaraki sword was always in Shikai release. We know that it was not true but what if it was in permanent Bankai release it being manifested as Yachiru.

Out of every theory, this had the most evidence: found Yachiru on a battlefield who was all alone and knew nothing; he stole his sword from a dead guy o the battlefield; she's always been with him or near him; the most important bit was that she disappeared after he got his Shikai.

This is one Kubo definitely had before the fans and probably from as early as Kenpachi was introduced.

Wonder if Kubo himself is aware of this

1.) WTF Kubo? Didn't you say something will happen when his petals disappear? According to Hitsugaya, his petals disappearing is still an indication to his Bankai's limit, which is pretty disappointing for him because his training post-Aizen was all to master his Bankai, which you, Kubo, said he has. I hope this doesn't mean we're not gonna see how Urahara & Yoruichi met!



2.) As if Kenpachi didn't go use two hands during the fight. Dumb fuck. Or did Kubo just forget. Kek. I'd lose my shit if his Bankai is Kido-based.



3. Hoping this is how it plays out: Bankai Zaraki overwhelms Gerard -> Gerard goes Vollstandig and overwhelms Zaraki -> every Shinigami in the vicinity all team up, which means the fucking Vizards go Bankai.



4. At least the Yachiru theory was true.





This is probably the worst chapter Kubo gave us this year.

I see something along the lines of Starrk, where hes powerful enough to split into two. something along those lines to explain why Yochiru had her own Shikai. Or it's hint at his bankai. or maybe we have it all wrong and she isnt apart of his zanpaktou at all. either way im excited. though thus far all of the bankais have been like release and done. which is poopy, but i guess that's what you get when youre near the end.
