You see, Kubo. When you don't focus on the fights, you can make an OK chapter.

Now I want to see Suì-Fēng with their "new" poison in her shikai form, not this wing thing around her body! Her speed+1 hit to kill VS tentacles = wonderful fight. Don't do bankai, please. :(

I seriously have no idea why she should be any better now that she's got back her Bankai. It's not like she uses anything.

If hollow powers are poison to qunicies how was Kirge able to absorb Ayon in hueco mundo?Exactly! And according to this latest chapter Masaki should have died instantly from having that hollow inside her.

Damn.......

Actually we need more information on the past.

The way I see it there are two races of quincies.

-Those like the steinritter that are nothing but souls like the Shinigami. These are the one considered the 'magic hunters' in Urahara's story. The Steinritter is composed of them.

-Those that lived in the human world for centuries. These ones are humans who can use quincy power because they are descendant of Bach. They are the ones that tried to mimic these 'magic hunters'. Obviously being human is being able to adapt. The human quincies from a thousand years ago were probably barely different from the soul quincies but time passed ever since.

Since the human world is constantly affected by Hollow you'd think that the weak one died and those resistant to it reproduced so that this antibodies problem was fixed by natural selection. We're not talking about three or four generations, it was a thousand year ago.

great little explanation and all but its still pointless if we just return to the same old captains are now too powerful to be stopped until the big bad villain appears and needs Ichigo to stop him.

I mean Byakuya and Zaraki haven't even showed up yet.

I fear the Sternritter are gonna get walked over just like the Arrancar and Espada.

i sure it will still take few more chapters before they will defeat the steintis just becouse they got a way to fight against the quicys this is not mean they will defeat them right away

He absorbed his body, I mean material he's make of.

I've done some research. :)

"Uses the most basic ability to gather Reishi in the most powerful way, by enslaving it. It can literally tear away the components that make up spiritual based objects such as those that make up Hueco Mundo and Soul Society as well as the bodies of spiritual beings."

I love how people, trying to defend Kubo's random nonsensical mess, read so much into stuff Kubo has probably been thinking an hour or two about, ignoring plot holes left and right.

I went into this discussion thread, 'cause I knew I would not be the only one to notice that terrible plot hole in the last chapter. However, having gone through the previous conversation I’m pretty sure there is nothing wrong. There are three generic problems being discussed:

  1. The possibility of co-existence for shinigami+hollow+quincy powers;

  2. What is poisonous and what’s not, for quincies in terms of hollows;

  3. How can this pill workout on a stolen bankai;

Let’s start with some key facts, we’ve already been given:

  1. Quincies do not have the antibodies to combat hollow cells or other body parts (e.i. soul). As Kisuke said: “Everything about a hollow is a poison for quincy.”

  2. To eradicate hollows quincies have elaborated specific offensive techniques. Those techniques are based on gathering outside energy and forming an arrow or something else and kill the hollow. They do not input their own reishi into that.

  3. Bankai is final form of the zanpakto spirits, but at the same time the spirit itself has been created from the wielder’s soul, through countless years of being together. Stealing a bankai means getting it into your own possession. Even wielder’s death would not strip the stolen bankai from quincy.

These two facts may explain the following:

  • What is poisonous for a quincy is a particle of hollow within their own body, same goes for their soul. That also explains why quincies have mostly arrows as their main weapon – a direct contact with the hollow will be fatal for them. On the other hand, they have no problem using the outside energy/reiatsu, be it even hollow’s, for forming an arrow. There is no direct contact with the hollow itself, or with its soul. So:

    • Most likely Ayon was used as an armor, or shield, nothing more (the only little problem here is that there still was direct contact and Ayon punched Kirge real good).

    • Arrancars can be turned into quinces, as this would mean only teaching them the skills and techniques, used by quincies. Learning and using those would not destroy and arrancar as the outside energy is used, the arrancar himself does not come in contact with the arrow he created.

  • While quincies are not able to resist the hollows’ poison, but shinigamis can. Not entirely but still. They are able to turn into a soul hybrid. So:

    • When Misaki was bitten by the hollow, it was a soul hybrid, who had a shinigami core. No wonder instead of soul suicide she started to hollify (which is impossible for quincies). Because, apart from the hollow particles she also received the shinigami means of defense as well as ability to co-exist with the hollow part. That may also explain why the process was slowed down in her case.

    • Moreover, in Misaki’s case she still needed all of the Kurosaki’s Isshin’s shinigami powers to more or less hold off the hollow poison in her and not trigger the soul suicide. But Ichigo inherited the hollow and quincy power from mother and enough shinigami power from father to hold of mommy’s genes. That makes Ichigo a perfect blend. And that may be the reason why Bach calls him his son. Bach created quincy, but who said he is a quincy himself? He uses a sword, not ranged weapons. Most likely he too is a blend of shinigami+quincy+hollow.

  • When stealing a bankai that quincy would literary steal part of the shinigami’s soul and even maintain it after the owner’s death.

    • Bach intentionally ordered those who stole the bankai’s to kill their owners with their own hands. Most likely that would be needed for severing a link between the capitan and his bankai. So that it can be maintained after the owner’s death.

    • Ichigo’s, as well as vizards’, bankai can be stolen. They even tried it with Ichigo, but failed. But it is not because of the hollow part in Ichigo. On the contrary, most likely it is his quincy part that prevented retrieving Ichigo’s bankai.

    • Stealing vizard’s, as well as Ichigo’s, bankai would not be fatal for a quincy. Same as in case of Misaki, with the stolen bankai a quincy will get not only hollow poison, but the shinigami defensive mechanism as well. They will be weakened greatly, but not dead.

    • That being said, the pill will not kill a quincy with bankai, but the quincy would most likely reject it as too risky to maintain. That’s why it might get back to it’s owner, and that’s how Kisuke expects to protect others’ bankais.
That almost works for me expect for the part about the pills working is fast as they did. The hollow White is essentially just a hollowfied zanpakutou and Misaki was able to function normally for almost 24 hours without ever being purified. Also the whole nonchalant attitude Ryuken had after watching Misaki get bitten by a hollow is weird sense he had no idea White was a hybrid. Seems like they kinda over-hyped the poisonous effects on quincy. If Misaki getting bitten by a hollow is no cause for alarm for Ryuken then are hollows really that dangerous to the quincy existence? Seems like they have a very large window of opportunity to get treated. Anyway, this will have to do for now but if next week Cang Du is on the ground coughing up blood from being exposed to a fraction of hollow power I call BS.

They don't damage bankai but quincies

Ichigo is still partially a Quincy.

And given that Kubo never fucking explains anything about the soul aging process or other integral parts of his race framework but instead just makes up random crap that tries to avoid the main issue we won't get a sufficient answer anyway.

Fuck you, Kubo.

Ichigo isn't just a Quincy he is a hybrid between Quincy and Shinigami so it doesn't apply for him. How about thinking before writing?

Because that's how genes work...

Btw, why are Hollows/arrancars trained to have Quincy powers in HM then?

Once you get a bit more into the whole Urahara explanation you realize this fucks up a whole lot about everything that has been previously stated in the manga.

But then again, this is Bleach: Kubo makes the plot up as he goes along with... whatever he think looks cool.

The reason why they have this weakness to hollow reiatsu is because of their lack of antibodies against them. Ichigo was born an hybrid, he is neither a shinigami, a quincy or a hollow. He is a perfect blend between these three therefore he has an immunity to that.

It is also not clear whether they mentioned that Quincy in general or the quincies from the Steinritter have this antibodies problem.

Also I dare to say that the stronger the quincy, the less effect that pill will have. I do not think that it will even faze Bach.
