If it were cut and dry it wouldn't have been left so ambiguous. After Grand Fisher's powers were revealed, they could have shown what happened afterward. No need to make Grand Fisher unable to remember, just show a flashback of what happened as the manga shows us her demise. At the very least, show a surprised looking Masaki with the implication that the fatal blow was about to fall where we'd expect it to.
But they couldn't. Because of all of the other inconsistencies. The whole idea that Grand Fisher would just kill and run without eating never made sense.
The missing sequence of events was omitted quite intentionally.
