It's as if all of Edo is at a standstill as Itto and Retsudō's battle continues into the night. Everyone is restless, waiting for the outcome, but none dare to go near and interfere.
The Shogun is informed that Itto has killed all the kusa and Retsudō stands alone. Upon hearing that, he decides he's going to ride out, but his retainers are adamant that he stays in the castle. They're worried that chaos will break out in the han and the daimyo will go against the Shogun's authority. The Shogun said he didn't give a fuck though. He's more worried about his reputation and doesn't want Retsudō to be killed right after he put his trust back into the Yagyu clan.
