Is it just me, or is Hoshino setting Johnny up to be Allen's 14th awakening victim?
Cross - chapter 167: "What would you do if I told you you'll have to kill someone you love, when you become the 14th...?"
Ring a bell? I have a feeling this is why Johnny was chosen by Hoshino to follow Allen. She has to follow through with her promise and kill off somebody, but she wouldn't want to make it the one main characters (Kanda, Lavi, and Lenalee). She needs them, and they make the series. But, she doesn't necessarily need Johnny. In fact, after this Search for Allen arc is through, I can't see a further purpose for keeping Johnny other than the fact that we all love him now... and even that precedes his death. Hoshino wouldn't want to kill off someone without leavng her readers with emotional scars.
Build him up and break him down. That's the pattern I'm seeing. I wonder how this will affect Allen, only if it comes true of course.
