Is it just me, or is Hoshino setting Johnny up to be Allen's 14th awakening victim?

Cross - chapter 167: "What would you do if I told you you'll have to kill someone you love, when you become the 14th...?"

Ring a bell? I have a feeling this is why Johnny was chosen by Hoshino to follow Allen. She has to follow through with her promise and kill off somebody, but she wouldn't want to make it the one main characters (Kanda, Lavi, and Lenalee). She needs them, and they make the series. But, she doesn't necessarily need Johnny. In fact, after this Search for Allen arc is through, I can't see a further purpose for keeping Johnny other than the fact that we all love him now... and even that precedes his death. Hoshino wouldn't want to kill off someone without leavng her readers with emotional scars.

Build him up and break him down. That's the pattern I'm seeing. I wonder how this will affect Allen, only if it comes true of course.

Hmmm, what a good chapter, Neah was crying for allen, that's pretty huge. I knew link was alive, Levellier did ask the old guy (forget his name) to heal him after all. Looking forward to the next chapter

I want to believe it's Link but... But I just can't! He looks too evil to be the Link I know and love! DX

Link was back but Kanda didn't seem suprised when he saw him. It looks strange to me.

First thought when finished: LINK IS BACK! But after re-glancing through it, I think I'd have to agree that isn't Link. You can see part of Apocryphos' rosary around his neck. I can't see Link wearing such a thing. (What's the deal with giving everyone similar-looking coats lately, Hoshino?)

Don't tease me like that, Hoshino! Granted that isn't really Link, I still believe he is alive somewhere. Leverrier /needs/ him for something connecting to the 14th. I will still keep believing that they faked his death in order to keep him safe until he is needed.

Hmm. I can't tell if that's the 14th or Mana. Perhaps a younger version of Mana? It'll probably be clear once this chapter is translated.

Allen crying was a bit adorable and Kanda's reaction to both Allen and Johnny breaking down like that was quite funny. Makes me want the next chapter all the more sooner~!

this chapter is a bit teary eyed coz of the situation Allen is in >,<

I was worried that since Allen's heart has an innocence patch on it, that when he turns into Neah whether it'd be like basically have a sword to the heart, but he seems fine transforming thus far. Probably the reason Allen still has his wits is because he keeps purifying himself. I'm sure there'll be a good explanation for it.

I think it's funny that Kanda calls Allen "Allen" now, sometimes at least XD

...Can't decide if Link is a good guy or not...

Anyway, awesome chapter!! I love seeing DGM updates!

It would still make a little bit of sense for him to actually be Link. He could have been sent out by Hitler to keep an eye on Allen but without getting involved. I mean that's what his job always was right? Supervising Allen Walker. He would just be continuing along the same line, though it seems a little strange for good old Link to just stand back like that.

If he's not Link though...Ugh, this Apocryphos theory just makes the cliffhanger 3 times worse. Two months ;_;

personaly, after seeing this chapter twice, I can tell this is young Mana. Neah has short hair, it was shown in retrospection.
