Really liked this arc. It would have been epic if not for the hiatus and all but still, it was a good arc. Don't know why people are complaining about the way the arc ended. After Netero died, it was clear that no one in NGL at that time, was strong enough to beat the King and it was clear that the King was getting soft when he meet Komugi. Instead of looking at the Negatives about Netero's death and the King being overpowered, lets look at the path-ways that are now open.

1. Most of the hunters that experienced or tasted the King's power would try to get stronger and not want to experience it again. So that means the protagonists like Gon and Kilua, training to get stronger.

2. Can't even begin to imagine the changes that would begin to occur to the hunters in general due to netero's death. So it means more exciting twists to come.

3. Gon's transformation, what does it mean?, whats going to happen to him?, How about his left arm?

4. Who's gonna be the next president?

5. What about gyro? Where is he? Whatz goin to happen?

I don't know about you but all this questions are getting me excited, can wait to see what happens next?

Kudos!! to Yoshihiro Togashi.......

well said. the people that hate this ending aren't using their brains at all while reading the manga.

as you said, the king's behavior happens slowly. its not as if he suddenly turns into a wimp for no reason like people are making it out to be.

I'm also curious as to what will happen to Gon/Killua.

so anti climactic...wtf was that? i think netero's death was what ruined this. they made the villain too powerful and the only way out was to have him die on his own....lame! it was not setup that way. it was just a cop-out....kisami said:

Ditto. I dont know why people dislike this arc so much I think it was a lot better than Greed Island.

Because people like to see the same and the same all over again. IMO the chimera arc had more content, seriousness and a surprising depth for a shonen manga. Definetely better than GI.

Now the anime has enough chapters to go on for probably 2 or 3 years and Togashi can just sit down and rake in the money.

Well, for the time being, Hunter x Hunter anime (2011 version) is slated for 45+ episodes (tentative).

Although I can imagine it (the anime) to reach a minimum of 3 years (approximately 156 episodes), if they will animate it for 2 chapters per 1 episode.

I don't think Netero died for nothing exactly.. He killed the King once (he was resurrected by pure luck) and in the end he took the King and two of the generals with him. Fighting the King again would be very typical of a shonen plot, and let's be honest, he was so overpowered that i don't think anyone could beat him. Ditto. I dont know why people dislike this arc so much I think it was a lot better than Greed Island.

Also anyone else thinks Togashi came off hiatus and rushed the ending of the chimera arc just so it could be animated? Now the anime has enough chapters to go on for probably 2 or 3 years and Togashi can just sit down and rake in the money.

The problem is, it started of with a exteme drop in quality and many plot points were dropped without explanation in the wake of the hiatuses.

After being confused while reading 315, looking back at that cliffhanger from 314. I was expecting something way different. Now that I look back at the last page of 314. It just makes chapter 315 grander. Never thought Togashi-sensei would apply a post-arc so directly. That last page featuring the back of Ging Freecs. And the mention of assigning a new chairman. In my opinion, is simply coincidental. Though I might be wrong. I think it's either going to be a new character, or a character from the past that's not Ging.

Maybe even someone from Genei Ryodan(Yes, unlikely, but you never know). If only Chrollo Lucfier...

Well, yeah, he kinda died for nothing. But it was him who killed the king in the end... but it didn't really matter since the king became good. Oh well. These old characters always die in shounens.

That was a nice chapter.. now we can finally say that this whole ant arc is over... but I kind of feel like the chairman died for nothing though.... anyway now its time to see gon and kilua already... and im sure that was gin at the end of the chapter

The "swept under the rug" expression at the end of the chapter kinda made me smile, because it feels a bit like Togashi did that with the arc and the conclusion.

Let's face it, Chimera Ants started horribly (ESPECIALLY if you were reading the first chapters when they were released in Jump, and Togashi was sick, basically letting his 2 years old daughter draw for him). It started to pick up a bit after the first hiatus, what with the Spiders having their moment and the plot starting to make sense again.

But let's face it, Togashi was obviously tired of the story after a while, and the foundations were too shaky to give a satisfactory conclusion. What about, well, basically everyone fucking involved ? Was it really worth it spending all those pages showing us what happened to the lobster-man and the little girl (I don't even remember her in the story) when we have no idea what happened to Knuckle, Gon, and all the others ? What about the remains of the Royal Guard ?

(Or, if you want to be a bitch, what about the second child of the Queen ? What about Leolio and Kurapika saying they were coming as back-up ? Guess everyone forgot about that, but can't really blame it)

It's not a bad thing to give a few details about what happens to secondary characters, but 20 pages dedicated only to 5 of them, especially when they are this non-relevant, feels like a waste, especially after all this hiatus.

Now, I really hope Togashi rushed that because he could not wait to start the next arc, which obviously will be good and please, NOT interrupted every six months again. I have still faith in him, but he really should not mess that one up.
