Strange chapter, really confusing. No Gon or Killua, and the King is probably going to die just because of poison. But Togashi is a genius, he managed to show that people are worse creatures than ants.
I must have missed that part. I just saw a person being hid in a box for a while to save the lives of many other people (Wow, that's really cruel) and a bunch of people who are sad (If they're worse than ants, then why should we care?) and then a bunch of people who are happy and apparently not sharing their wealth. OK, fine. If Togashi thinks that being a bleeding heart is more important than storytelling, great. So how about donating some of his own money to a good cause? How about "all the proceeds from manga vol. whatever are going to charity"? He certainly doesn't seem to need the money, given that he can take long breaks whenever he likes. As it is, it just seems like Togashi is trying to reprimand his readers for being wealthy and horrible and buying leisure items like manga.
Whats the matter? Feeling guilty?
Its because Togashi cares about high quality story telling that he made this chapter the way he did. Its not about who is "better" humans or ants, Togashi is facing the reader with the reality of human cruelty. In real life human beings truly are vastly more cruel than any other animal, of course, not everyone is cruel, but some of us are, so what right do we have to judge Chimera ants and call them monsters. The same goes for judging other countries, ethnicities whatever. No human being has the right to dehumanize another. I believe thats part of Togashi's message. The cruelty he depicted is more than about income inequality, he depicted police brutality, oppression, war on top of the the realities of the rose bomb which is essentially an exagerated nuclear bomb. I think you've got a lot of nerve making assumption about Togashi's finances. Do you know how much he gives to charity? Do you know the people in his family he's supporting? Do you know how much he works on HxH during these Hiatus? I don't know the answers to these questions but unless you do I don't think you have any right to criticize him about it. If he's reprimanding anyone it might have to do with how ethical the practices are of the corporations involved in the manga industry as opposed to individual readers
I think this was a very profound chapter, apparently its gone over a lot of people's heads on MAL, but I for one am truly impressed by it.Thank you! At least one person gets it. I can't believe the simplicity of everyone's comments on here. It's like people just want to read battles and that's all. "Where's my Gon vs the King" "rant, rant." Go read Dragon Ball or Bleach if that's what you want. This is all brilliant story telling and people criticizing it for what reason, because it doesn't follow all of the battle manga cliches.... Ridiculous.
