And that concludes the Ginyu Force. I'm not a fan of this part of the arc.
The characters of the Ginyu aren't really that interesting, other than Rikoom in his fight. I feel their introduction just breaks the pace of the arc so far, and it feels weird to have to introduce new characters instead of going with the ones already there. It just feels like dragging out the story so that the fight against Freezer is pulled back, but without any actual changes to the story.
I don't like Ginyu and his body change-ability. It's kind of interesting to make a point that the characters are different in their use of their power, which has been a thing all throughout the arc, but it doesn't do enough with it. The conclusion is also just pretty lame, with a character that has been built up as this big threat. It's a decent joke, but I feel a comedic fight at this point just feels out of place.
Overall, taking the Ginyu force out from the arc wouldn't change the story at all, which is why I don't like it. Just feels like extra padding that breaks the pace and changes the tone too much. Vegeta, Gohan and Kuririn is now back as a trio (just as before Goku's arrival) and Goku is out of the story again. There is clear setup of what will happen at this point, and I'm afraid we've seen it before.
