It's getting kind of repetitive. This sudden appearance thing has happened half a dozen times at least in this arc. Could everyone just appear together and stop staggering?!
Gintoki: "Omg we're gonna lose!"
Kaientai/Shinsengumi/Gengai/Kyuubei/Oniwabanshu/Tsukuyo/Etc: "Worry not, for I am here!"
Place your bets here for the next persons to appear:
Umibouzo and Kamui
Kiheitai and Takasuki
That'd take the hype and balance out of it though. Besides, the order they would show up was foreshadowed at the end of chapter 611 I believe.
I personally like this cause I think it's great for sorachi to finish all the characters arcs and provide spotlight for them. This is the end- everyone being a part of it is something I like seeing.
I understand the symbolic gesture of having everyone that made up the Gintama universe appear, but it does not make for a good read too to keep doing this. It ends up just dragging the character development and the plot in favor of guest appearances and cool sounding lines.
Remember they did this quite a lot for the Takasuki rescue arc and the Mimawarigumi+Kondo+Shogun arc too.
I like Gintama but ... haiz just a bit disappointed.
I get what ya mean, but I think sorachi has done a good job making the characters that show up seem like they're important. All of them have had important moments, saving main characters, assisting in the takedown of big enemies, boosting moral (shinsengumi). Shutting off all the power in edo in kintoki and tamas case. As long as the characters that show up impact the situation in an important feeling way, and get some conclusion to their arcs, I'll be down with what the gorilla is doing.
