tbh, I really wanted a good backstory continuation for Kamui (like in the previous chapter) and a character development, but what I get...
I understand his love for his mom and all the efforts he had done, that he was a little kid, who wanted his mother to live no matter what. It's normal. But now Kamui hasn't changed at all, he still wants to kill his dad, despite having been saved from utsuro, and his reasons and motivation are quite unjustified.
So my opinion is that this is the worst Kamui chapter ever, Sorachi totally ruined him. -.-
You are missing the point of Kamui's motivations....I'll summarise it. Kamui still hates Umibozu because of the mentality ('get stronger') he taught Kamui. After Umibozu failed to prevent Kouka's death, Kamui started to think this was a false kind of strength that couldn't protect the ones he held dear. He sought out a different kind of strength in Hosen. Strength which would cause him to abandon his family, attempt to kill Umibozu and save Kouka. He'd become a villain with nothing, but the mentality of 'become the strongest'. In other words he's been reduced to nothing, so killing Umibozu and becoming the strongest are his only goals in life. That's why he's so twisted.
And there will be character growth. We are not even out of his back story yet. Have patience.
