Gintama Chapter 576 Discussion

I was always saying Gintama has quick pace, but this week that was not the case. We almost did not move ahead story wise. Let's hope it's just setting up for some nice backstory reveal or something like that.
I really want to know what made Kamui the way he is now.

Seing Kamui's reaction if Umibozu would die would be really interesting. But knowing Gintama it would be some kind of cliche death like "died protecting his kids" kind of thing.

Well one thing I learnt about Kamui this chap is that he was not the black sheep of the family like most ppl believed, baldy cared abt him just as he cared abt Kags, at least that's how I see it from the limited spoilers. it's not much but getting to see the yato again is satisfying enough for me. I think the whole Yato family need a back story, not just Kamui. well, even if Umibozu did care for Kamui, I still feel, that there is something fishy going on. I hate that Kamui is still portrayed as a total fiend surrounded by 'good people' and has a bad reason of becoming so Yato-obsessed...I want a good story about him, we've seen his antagonism many times, I wanna see his good side again...Kagura wants him to go back to how he used to be before.
Do you not have patience? Sorachi is obviously starting to explore Kamui's back story right now, so all you have to do is wait..

That fight was so awesome. Got some Sougo vs. Kamui vibes from it. It was a little too short, unless if Kamui doesn't give a sh*t about Kagura and continues fighting. I think we're getting hints to a Kamui backstory. More likely than not, Sorachi will expand on this family in the upcoming chapters.

Shit is crazy out there, they were pretty much even, I though Umibozu was going to rekt Kamui hard, but he's either holding back cause of his son, or Kamui is just not strong enough to take out his pops yet.
Also now with Kagura in the mix, some talk is about to happen between the 3, and I'm afraid someone will get "surprise killed" over here, Utsuro said to his crew last chapter to land the ship down, so he's probably on the ground at this point.

I'm totally with you on that, logically there should be a reasonable reason why Kamui acts this way, and he was just a child when he made his choices, so we can't say that he's entirely to blame. That's why I think for Kamui to have a backstory alone wont be enough to justify his actions, we need to hear Umibozu and kagura's side of story as well. But when you say antagonism... besides picking fights with powerful people, the only antagonism I can recall of Kamui was when he accidentally killed Ungyou and happily licked the blood off his hand. Damn Takasugi's done more killing than he has, so I believe Kamui is good deep down and I will have faith on Sorachi that he'd gradually show us that. Otherwise we can all go apeshit on that gorilla. I couldn't agree with you more, my fellow Kamui fan. Now I'm dying to see the next chapter. This one is sure insane af.
