Well, Yeah, its most likely that Gintoki will just buy everyone time to retreat while the real fight with Utsuro will probably be in the next arc or something. However, someone will undoubtly die in the process of their retreat...

Tbh I doubt it, as I remember right they got him into sunlight, which made him much weaker, but I'll have to reread/rewatch that fight to be sure.

I fear that after this arc the series might end, hopefully not.

I'm more interested to see what will happen with Nobume and Sasaki when they reunite than the fight with Utsuro. Their relationship is the highlight of this arc for me.  I still hope Sasaki will survive this somehow. Kondo is gone missing so we should also keep that in mind. And Utsuro is some (really) old guy, so those who thought it was Shouyou can be relieved.
