Tomie Chapter 20 Discussion

The story is incredibly well done, the high horror made by Junji Ito really captures some creeps out of you

What about the page before the end? What was that about?

After reading this and an awful lot of other of ito junji's manga, i have no doubt that you can see what happened to Tomie if you read "The Window Next Door". You can see the same lines, the same attempt to seduce and it goes well hand in hand with the last chapter of the Tomie manga!!

Basically she turned into an old hag and her charms don't work anymore. And the ability to move the window pretty much goes hand in hand with the strange crack in the perfect cement block. It explains it all.

The only thing that doesn't make sense and can't be explained is how come the oldies never realized she stopped making noise in that concrete block. Seriously that pretty much shows lack of attention to detail.

Overall i liked the manga for how much it reflects a part of the real world. I bet Junji was even inspired by a manipulative ex to write this. :)

Lame ending. They waited what? 60 years and never noticed the crack, or how she got away? It's not something which is instantaneous and they kept watch continuously. I really hated Tomie, all of them are identically evil (even the pinky!) and extremely one-dimensional. After a point it gets tiring. I had to finish the manga for completeness sake though.

Tomie is probably still among us. Beware of a beautiful young Japanese girl in your neighborhood. Don't let her pull you in.

Solid manga all around

There is no ending for this series, people, it's an episodic collection of separate stories revolving around the monster known as Tomie, each chapter have its own "series ending"

i thought we'll have a conclusion on what she really is, but oh well. She's an unkillable "mysterious" monster who doesn't even know her own origins, what that's sufficient enough, no need to reveal her true nature because it would ruin the whole mystery and horror elements.

                        ----------------------------------------

So, that's the ending? She ends up getting away? They waited like, what, 60+ years for that? lol.

I really liked the story but I kinda got sick of Tomie after 3/4 in. I also did like how the artwork gradually improved in each chapter.

8/10

Uzamaki is still my favorite.
