I feel the same, this was amazing, and it's a real shame that most of the awesome character from Shonan Junai Gumi barely or never appear in the sequel, i mean even nagisa get like two or three cameo max.

And fucking Ryuuji too, onzikua is obviously the best as a main character but Ryuuji should at least have a manga telling about him and nagisa during gto.

Still this whole franchise is amazing and i don't agree that the author has lost his touch and should end it...

After reading the second to last chapter, which is great for delivering a surprise element, I didn't feel like the last chapter managed to wrap it up nicely. It didn't make much sense to me. One of the things I like about this manga is the ending of some of the arcs (remember Midnight Angels Revival arc – CLASSIC!) because they contain such a meaningful and strong message. Thus, compared to those this one is a bit flat. Still fine but for a finale it could have been better in my opinion.

I found myself liking Ryuji more because in the original GTO he is kinda like a side character(which I don't like). But in junai gumi he is as main character as Eikichi. And when I see him in other series I can't help but smile

Also I liked Abe character, he was a unique one. It's sad that Fujisawa gave up on him during manga. It's also sad that characters like Shinomi, Tsukai, Katsuyki, Makoto, Kamata, Nakojo and ect hadn't appeared in the original GTO. It would be great if like Kamata came from US and helped Oni with money or something hahahaha. I also hope that in future Shinomi would take Eikichi's virginity because in the last chapters there was something going on between them

Thats one issue Fujisawa I have noticed. This dude doesn't like to re-use an old charecter. He would create a whole new charecter with  almost the same charecter traits as an already existing one, but never use the old charecter again.

It's been a long time since I finished it, but I'll respond. I thought it was a pretty fun way to end the series, but I wish that he continued it in some capacity before GTO. It was definitely weird to jump from there to GTO.

One disappointing thing about all the manga after GTO is that they really hardly use any of the awesome characters from Shonan Junai Gumi. That makes me sad. I wish he would go back and do another story with his gang. It seems like Onizuka made a bunch of other connections with gangs before the start of GTO. I think Fujisawa has kinda lost his magic, so maybe I don't want any more series.

Now that I finaly read full thing, I can say that Shonan Junai Gumi is a god damn hidden gem or at least very close of that. Of course most of its readers came from GTO to see how Onizuka and this Ryuji guy were back in the day and how they built a legend that surrounds them later.

Yes the manga felt repetitive at times when they just hang out and a new bad guy appears that has his own backstory and motives, but it works and only pretty much because its such a unique thing to read or at least feels a little different than reading all the romance or battle shounen mangas with mythical elements. Thats why I loved reading this so much despite not giving it a 10.

I'm really gonna miss Onizuka's and Ryuji's adventures like these but I'm also very excited since GTO is next thing that comes after this amazing action packed along with elements of comedy manga.
