Sakata's characterisation is a bit... lacking. When he showed up he was a bit of an enigma, and he's still a bit of an enigma. Seems strange for him to be so against reviving people when he himself revived somebody. They all had so much faith in Kurono, too.

I will try to explain what's going on here.

Some people who don't know each other have been sent to hunt overpowering aliens risking their own lifes, they're seeing maybe hundreds of innocents die or atrocious deaths every single week, they're constantly under pressure of loosing their lives and those of their comrades.

They just lost their leader who became as useful as Yamcha before dying as pitifully as he did.

I think you can give them the right to feel lost and confused after all the emotional roller-coaster they have and they're still going through ffs
