Nice fight, full of motion  though could have reached higher status of epicness. As many said before, the rune spell was a nice touch. And the logic behind it wasn't stupid. The jutsu shiki was cancelling all magic, so Wahl's counter-spell was an AoE anti - "anti-magic". That I said Wahl being unable to analyze that stuff even though he has scanner on and using thunder was kinda implausible for me. I mean he can analyze the body structure but doesn't have at the back of his database some info on dragonslaying magic and not using that element?

That being said, the railgun itself was badass and a clear reference to Metal-Gear after all :P. Seems that Wahl's transformation was indeed inspired by Raiden.

Well Mashima loves video games, that's pretty clear he wants to work on one too. But anyway, the thing about this chapter that I liked the most, is that Laxus outsmarted a machine xD, a lot of people will call BS, without thinking much about it... it's kinda sad.

dafuq, where'd he get random red lightning?

Bit confused on how the nullifying healed laxus. it counteracts the etherion in his body or something?

- the red lightning, they never mentioned yuri or laxus having this kind of special power before, not even a single fcking hint, a teaser or anything of the sort.

- wahl, a cyborg that could analyze almost everything suddenly forgets that lightning would revive a lightning dragon slayer. seriously wahl? seriously?

We had a time skip, the red lightning it's debateable since naturally they had 1 year to train so they should at least have something new up their sleves, like Natsu's FDK new mode.

Dude, Hiro even implied that it's an asspull "Spun from the will inherited from his ancestors... is the power of miracles!"

And considering the fact that we got a flashback of a convo w/Mavis about Yuri, it's obviously a PoF attack, nothing he trained for. If he did train for it, the flashback instead would be of him achieving that technique in the the TS.

We've seen that mages who have some type of element can be hurt by that said element, Natsu was hurt by Zancrow's flames, even tho he should be 'immune' to fire, and other examples. Even you said 'could almost analyze everything'.

That's a different beast altogether. Zancrow's flames were the antithesis to Natsu's, GSM  is essentially the poison to DSM.

The fact that Wahl had to use nullifying magic to remove Freed´s runes was reasonable as we´ve seen other cases where mages used nullifing magic. Giving a tactical mage with "high capabilities " nullifying magic is comrehensible.

But the fact that it conveniently removed Laxus disease felt underwhelming.

It raises several questions that probably have to be answered through assumptions.

1. Laxus knew that his disease coud get healed by using cleansing magic.

2. Wasn´t  anyonene in his vicinity capable of using nullifying magic of the required magnitude?

3. Didn´t he want to scare his friends and didnt tell them?

4. If no one in his environment was capable of healing him, why didn´t he search farther away,

We lack details kudos if we get them next chapter, I would highly appreciate some exposition.

TLDR; It gives Laxus credibility for using his wits to beat his enemie but opens up several cans of worms.

Asspull is a term that gets thrown around randomly in the Anime/manga community. Overall there was no foreshadowing for a new Laxus ability but  a timeskip has occured so it´s actually only natural that he learned new skills too.

I don´t remember people complaining about Grays blood ice countering Ultears time magic.

My personal beef with this chapter is that it was a oneshot.

It would have been satisfiying to see Laxus reveal the new ability have Wahl dodge/tank some hits and than continue and end the fight next chapter.

An issue Fairy Tail fights have since I don´t care to remember.

But it was smart on Laxus's part to trick Wahl into healing him... I see why some might not like it, but it does make sense, at least it's not something like "She's Erza" or some shit like that, it makes sense. The red lightning is debatle because of the 1 year time skip.

Now Laxus is a lone wolf, he is mostly like that, he does care for his friends, but he's not exactly the type who shares his feeling very often or that let others know if something bothers him or not, his personality is like that.

That's the thing with a lot of Fairy Tail fights, they're short, always been short, maximum 2-3 chapters of fighting, since the beginning 'till now, I don't really have a issue, since I'm used to it, granted I would've liked if the chapter ended with Laxus healing, than we got more of the fight and that red lightning stuff, some hate it, some loved, but regardless it looked pretty cool. Also this has to do with the editor's decission, like seriously I don't know what kinda idea Hiro really has and what he can actually do, but we might never find out.
