This is one mind blowing chapter!

Zeref past life was awesome already but then Natsu's Brother... and then Acnologia human form.

Best chapter so far!

My Theory: Acknologia is natsu evil alter ego. I am assuming that natsu or END was made etherious, but igneel somehow split his demon form (acknologia) from him and left natsu as a good version only. That would explain Acknologia similar apperance to natsu (look at hair and eyes, he looks like dark version of natsu) also explains why natsu didn't use demon power yet.

So my theory of all the way back that Zeref WAS cursed plays nicely to this all.

As well as what I theorized all the way back in Eclipse arc on how "Gods" are essentially Titans and "Dragons" are Gods that expelled titans, if we compare to Greek Mythology.



Zeref most likely played a role in dragons ascendancy and limitation of gods powers only to see the same dynamics be established between Dragons and Humans. Then the Dragon Slayers were created and civil war broke out.



I guess afterward Zeref simply stopped caring and withdrew from the world, having seen the same cycle again and again.



Either way, this nicely ties together parts of backstory and sets up gods as threatening force within the setting...if only Nasu would not have oneshotted one literally two chapters ago...



Ikusatsunagi was NOT a real god. IT was just a summon just like the Celestial Spirit King. Look at how Zeref got the curse. The so god didn't even need to show himself to use his power.



I am thinking it was more like an incarnation of one of gods.



So either they got REALLY owned by dragons and zeref somehow and are very limited in interference or they are not that strong, which would be disappointing.



Whatever happened, they obviously dont have the same grasp on the world as they did before now or otherwise most of dark guilds did not even exist



I do find it an interesting idea:

Gods oppressing humans, till dragons chase them out

Then Dragons oppressing humans till mages with dragon slaying magic chase them out.

And in times of FT Zero we had dark guilds(mages) oppressing humans and we have Acnologia, dragonslayer-made-dragon with "enough power to rule over humans".



That is certainly a possibility

It'd be kinda skeptical to kill off the MC in the ending of a long running shounen really.

Zeref is a pretty twisted character. Can't blame him from being like that... what's funny tho it's that "curious people are the first one to die", and he became immortal because he was curious about the meaning of life and death. This is also pretty favorable for Natsu since supposedly his demon powers are sealed in that book, so he can kill Zeref (still unclear how you kill an immortal... not saying it's not possible tho, sounds weird but he must have some sort of weakness), and he has dragon slayer magic, so he could deal with Acnologia.

OMG!! this chapter.

Holy shit! The plot! The back-story! Zeref's past and connection to Natsu really explain everything we've seen from him. You can't help but feel bad for him.



Natsu's insane power, Acnologia, damn, I have no idea how this final showdown is going to go! xD

The point is Hiro did exactly the same thing in Rave.

1:1 He had one of the protagonists being from the past. The protagonist should have been 80+ years but she was frozen in time for 70 years+ suffered memory loss because of the procedure. But the final reveal was the timetravel.



Since Hiro loves to recycle Rave for Fairy Tail I´m calling that right now.

Eclipse could not be used as a solution since that would mean this would be an alternative universe Natsu.



This time ehe expands on that idea and makes Dragon Slayers be from the past.

Hiro actually foreshadowed that within the first chapters where he explained though Luxy I think.

"Dragon slaying Magic is extinct". Or the discussion between Cobra and Natsu, where we learn that Cobra isn´t a traditional Dragon Slayer.



I agree with that, the only think is that, how do the other dragon slayers play into this? All the dragons disappeared on 7 7 777. There's no way all of them were frozen and revived at the same time. Now eclipse is mentioned, and Lucy's mom died on the same day the dragons disappeared, so there's a connection there. Plus I do think the other dragon slayers aren't from this time. Because how you said, the whole thing with Cobra and Laxus being 2nd gen dragon slayers. And the fact that Grandeene (hope I spelled her name right), said that Acnologia extracted their souls long ago.
