I have a strange feeling that Natsu will die in the end. Because he wasn't supposed to be existing at all. It was unnatural, and to balance the flow of nature someway he'll die. It'll be a sad ending though.

Doubt it. FT is meant to be a happier series than Rave

Zeref fever seems to make sense now. An immortal wizard who rejects death bent on resurrecting the dead? Yeah, that's enough to give plenty of people the zehahaha's! A very profound theme. Explains his followers being unafraid of death too.

I'm still figuring out how to interpret the theme here. Zeref might symbolize the lingering spirit which won't move on. First, he's obsessed with his brother. An obsession which has led him to annihilation of humanity as a solution. The theme seems to say letting go is part of love. But accepting things as they are has NEVER been Mashima's moral of the story. So we have to restrict that to accepting death as part of life. Tartaros' rebirth process rejects the natural order too. Then Zeref is like a Satan rebelling against God, with demonic minions to boot.

I am~ noticing Zeref likes to play innocent while ignoring the consequences of his actions. Like with creating demons just to die, knowing they threaten humanity. A double-minded man with a curse that taunts him with defiance. A constant reminder of his own rebellion. Ooo Mashima.

So hmm...what's Mavis really~ doing suspending herself from death?

Don't worry. With nakama power, everything will turn alright.

My guess is that gray is somehow going to only slay the demon part of him, since it feels more like zeref just added some demon cells(?) or just attributes to his dead brother's body, that way natsu will be saved and gray will be able to keep his promise to his father

Thanks for pointing out what every non idiot should have guessed by now.

Sadly you are in the minority with this assumption.

Okay this was way better than 435 or the last like 5 chapters of bullshit.

So my theory of all the way back that Zeref WAS cursed plays nicely to this all.

As well as what I theorized all the way back in Eclipse arc on how "Gods" are essentially Titans and "Dragons" are Gods that expelled titans, if we compare to Greek Mythology.

Zeref most likely played a role in dragons ascendancy and limitation of gods powers only to see the same dynamics be established between Dragons and Humans. Then the Dragon Slayers were created and civil war broke out.

I guess afterward Zeref simply stopped caring and withdrew from the world, having seen the same cycle again and again.

Either way, this nicely ties together parts of backstory and sets up gods as threatening force within the setting...if only Nasu would not have oneshotted one literally two chapters ago...

Ikusatsunagi was NOT a real god. IT was just a summon just like the Celestial Spirit King. Look at how Zeref got the curse. The so god didn't even need to show himself to use his power.

I am thinking it was more like an incarnation of one of gods.

So either they got REALLY owned by dragons and zeref somehow and are very limited in interference or they are not that strong, which would be disappointing.

Whatever happened, they obviously dont have the same grasp on the world as they did before now or otherwise most of dark guilds did not even exist

I do find it an interesting idea:

Gods oppressing humans, till dragons chase them out

Then Dragons oppressing humans till mages with dragon slaying magic chase them out.

And in times of FT Zero we had dark guilds(mages) oppressing humans and we have Acnologia, dragonslayer-made-dragon with "enough power to rule over humans".

The long awaited Zeref origin is covered in less than one chapter and given to us pretty much out of the blue. Meh.
