Nope according to this chapter he possessed the body during the attack meaning he wasn't inside the shell by the point he was at Galuna



maybe after deliora killed silver, he hid silver in somewhere else before he was iced shell, and  with the help of keith , an obsessed with dead bodies, he used it in order to make a vessel for deliora!
