Hm I thought the dragons are possessing their respective DS, but I guess that can't be the case, since all of you think Gajeel is currently not possessed by anything. Would have been a nice plot twist.

Well, on Tenrou Island Natsu didn't exactly eat lightning, he was stuffed with it by Laxus who transferred all his energy into him, but ya. :D



I love the combination though, fire + lightning as in total destruction



and iron + shadow. Interesting indeed, looking forward to it

And it looks like we're getting the back stories of a few characters here before they joined FT (firstly Erza, now Gajeel. This is getting better and better)

DS should only be able to eat their respective element. If they can absorb other elements, then what's stopping Gajeel from absorbing lightning or anything else for that matter?Well Natsu eat lightning and Gajeel said if Salamander can do it, I can too.

Sooo going by your logic, why doesn't Gajeel also absorb lightning? If Natsu can do it, he can too...right?

Also, "one magic" ,all magic is related. its already been proven that dragonslayers can eat elements other than their own, but its also reasonable to assume that the closer the element is to their own, it would be easier to gain control of it. Natsu would obviously have difficulty with water or sky/wind, while iron would have difficulty with lightning. Iron would probably go well with something poison or earth/rock too.



I agree with you, if the shadow is permanent, then Gajeel can store this magic as his second origin as Natsu has now done with Laxus' lightning. Yeah lightning and fire are similar so Natsu can use it while Iron is similar to Earth etc not sure about shadow, but its cool. I like to think that Gajeel has unlocked his 2nd origin during his training. While I think Laxus already has his unlocked a long time ago.



And finally Gajeel gets the limelight he deserves. ^^

Hohoho. Gajeel is finally getting another mode just like Natsu.

Although, I wonder what kind of power up will the shadow do to his iron.



Anyways, we might get more details as to why Gajeel can eat shadow.

1. He said Raios is his disciple... and he might have a lil knowledge about Shadow... Master Jose Shade might be connected to this... heck Master Jose might make his comeback or something.



2. This is just like Natsu eating Etherion and God Flames. Natsu also ate Laxus lightning in the past when he was a cheeky kid... so he probably gain some sort of resistance since he always get stronger.



3. Dragon slayer magic might have some sort of compatibility when used by other DS... especially the lacrima might have something to do with this. Laxus passed his lightning to Natsu, dunno about Gajeel's case since this situation is more similar to Natsu eating Godslayer's flames.



I am not that surprised with Gajeel getting this iron shadow mode... but I am more surprised that there is some sort of connection between them in the past... I guess shonen logic.to put more depth into both characters.

Then please explain why Natsu cant use Godslayer Flames.



Because:



1) It's not as simple as "I ate it, therefore I learned it", or Natsu would know how to use Totomaru's magic.

2) There's no one around that knows it to teach him.

3) Integrating the Fire God Slayer magic with the Fire Dragon Slayer magic was difficult. Which is not conducive to learning to do it on your own.

4) Unlike lightning magic which he's eaten on two occasions, and used for multiple attacks in a battle before passing out from side effects some time later, he'd eaten god slayer magic only once, and used it for only one attack, and passed out immediately thereafter. Again, not conducive to learning do to it on your own.



In short, the nature and circumstances under which he was able to eat and use god slayer magic do not lend themselves to easily learning to enhance his flames with it, while the nature and circumstances under which was was able to eat and use lightning dragon slayer magic do lend themselves to easily learning to enhance his flames with it.
