Yes of course. But when an arc begins that promises plot you can't turn your eyes to that either. There is such a thing as balance.
Yeah, you're right. My intention was saying that in my personal view this wasn't a dragging-plot chapter, since I felt like there was enough content in it.I guess that means I was already expecting something like that this week and the fact that I never expect too much from a single normal chapter by itself, because, they're just too short in the end.

And I don't think there is nothing wrong with requesting battles with a little more on the line, call it character development or emotional/moral attachement from one of the two sides, generally a battle with some sort of meaning behind it.
Yep,nothing wrong with that. The way I see, there is a meaning to these battles. They're trying to rescue Lucy.I mean, just seconds ago it looked like the mission was complete, but now that they're separated, things just look bad.The battles may seem plain to some, but they're not meaningless. If you think that's not enough, then it's better to wait for the end of the battle to decide if it really ended up being meaningless at least.
This is just how I see it,and how I understand a "meaning".Anybody can think different,no problem.

Though this is my general interpretation of the negative opinion, I have to say I'm not that much bound to it. I'd rather view this situation as two arcs being developed back to back rather as one looong arc.
Meaning that I neither hated this chapter nor loved it. I'm in between. Am I not allowed to do that even if the chapter in question is a battle oriented one within a battle manga?
Never said that. What I said is that battles(even the ones considered as meaningless)are a part of all battle shounen, and they're also a important part of the plot itself. This is no different. What you think about the chapter is all your own opinion.Nothing wrong with that.
