Vinland Saga Chapter 108 Discussion

Since Thorfinn came back to greenland I have to say that Vinland saga is back on track and it's seriously awesome.



If the 40 chapters at the farm would have been cut down to 20 chapters I wouldn't have complained.

I find this chapter pretty compelling just for Gudrid. It depicts the anomaly of women in this time in a realistic manner. Though the middle ages is still a better time to live as a woman than the victorian or the austen times.

I don't know, I'm not entirely sold on Gudrid even though I (and a lot of people with vaginas) can relate to her frustrations about inequality, her expected role in life, and fears about sex. I think it's because her conflict seems so forced? There's other, subtler ways of expressing a character's desires and frustrations than having them make grand speeches and monologues about it.

Finally caught up again after having Vinland Saga on 'on-hold' for so long.



This chapter almost made me tear up. Not sure if any other manga ever managed to do that.

gudrid actually made it onto the crew... that's good to see

Well to be honest, it's been written in the Sagas for some centuries now so maybe it's more a case of that ship sailed long ago?



The next arc will be great. I'm really looking forward to it.

Just recently finished the manga and I love it. The art style is on par with Vagabond however, the story is more gripping and  the pace not as slow.

It is also refreshing to read a good non-Asian story for once.



When do new chapters usually come out? Does it always take that long?

Well it was different in Dark Middle-Age's, Woman were meant to Stay at home, well expect some possible Female Pirates from not so Strict Culture's I think...but Currently, there is nothing to stop it.

I was hoping for this.

The farm arc is pretty good if you binge it imho. I never had any problems with it, it wasn't as great as the first Part (No Askeladd) but still well written & had to happen.
