                        ...What was the point of cutting off the messenger's help if he agreed to the messengers plea, also I wonder whats gonna happen when the Vikings get wiped out, will this manga end? and wasn'nt it Charlemagne in France who wiped out the vikings?... though I could be wrong or this could be just a manga with no historical relevance.

He cut off the messenger's head so that he wouldn't get reinforcements. Askeladd wants all the money to himself and his crew.
