In the year 3147, the Roman Empire finally accomplished its ambitious goal of establishing colonies across the cosmos. Unlike our era, this Roman Empire expanded to envelop Earth and eventually ventured into the stars, spreading humanity's reach. Despite the remarkable advancements in technology, medicine, social welfare, and other aspects of life, one ancient tradition persisted. GLADIATORS! And we should embrace it, because in 3149, just two years after the arduous colonization process concluded, humanity discovered it was not alone in the galaxy, let alone the universe. They found themselves amidst grander contests where entire planets and star systems were pitted against each other in massive games of survival. Galactic conflicts, if left unchecked, would spell doom for countless forms of life. To maintain balance, races acknowledged by the galactic or universal council (the authority varied based on their scale) were required to field champions, or gladiators, to represent them. Victory brought unimaginable rewards, defeat meant annihilation, or worse, enslavement for entire species. Join us as our protagonist, a lanista, embarks on a perilous journey.
