Desire Climax is really intriguing. I'll do my best not to spoil anything, but the main character, Mio Omori, can be a bit frustrating by the end. Just when you think everything is wrapping up, a new issue pops up—kind of like an unexpected zit! Despite that, I found the storyline engaging with plenty of drama. The artwork is quite nice, though the guys' lips sometimes bother me. Still, it looks fantastic in color (*cough* *cough* anime...) lol. Anyway, you'll probably enjoy this manga :D
    It's definitely worth checking out!

I've been diving into quite a few romance mangas lately, experiencing both the highs and the lows. As I read, I started recognizing certain recurring tropes that seem to pop up over and over again. I suspect someone coming across this review might be in a similar situation as I was: already familiar with the genre. Therefore, I won't delve into an exhaustive breakdown of the entire romance genre or its storytelling merits and flaws. Instead, I want to focus on what sets this particular manga apart within that genre.

First off, the characters are decent. A persistent issue in many romance mangas is the lack of depth in the female lead—often portrayed without much personality or independence. Thankfully, the female lead here isn't entirely helpless; she does exhibit independent thought and makes her own decisions, which is refreshing. The male leads, while fairly typical and occasionally obnoxious, still manage to have enough backstory to engage the reader. That said, there were moments when potential character development was introduced but then abandoned, which was somewhat disappointing.

Enough about character analysis—it's the plot that truly matters here... and wow, is it dramatic! I absolutely loved it. I couldn't put this manga down and ended up finishing it in about two days, even during finals week. The way the story unfolds really brings the characters to life and gives the narrative a vibrant energy. It's clear that this manga was crafted to entertain and keep readers on their toes.

Yes, this manga employs a lot of romance tropes, but that's par for the course. What elevates it is how skillfully these tropes are handled, making the reading experience genuinely enjoyable.

I've never penned a review on MAL until now, but this work left me so disillusioned that I had to speak out. I can't stress enough how much I detest this manga. It's baffling to me how it holds the rating it currently does. Perhaps some readers relish the relentless aggressive sexual harassment of the protagonist and her apparent obliviousness to everyone manipulating her at every opportunity. Honestly, her so-called "family" and friends do nothing but deceive her and ensnare her in their schemes. If I were in her shoes, I would have contacted the authorities, and if that didn't work, relocated to another country just to escape those despicable individuals. Please, steer clear of this manga, and if you still choose to read it, don't delude yourself into thinking the story is worthwhile or that the characters are admirable or even believable... The sole reason I completed this manga is due to my unfortunate tendency to finish everything I start reading, regardless of its quality. I will absolutely avoid any future works by this mangaka to prevent enduring another such harrowing reading experience.

Desire Climax is a Shoujo, Smut, Romance, Drama manga that starts off feeling like every other smutty manga I've come across, but it surprisingly evolves into a deeply engaging story. Unfortunately, the narrative takes a turn for the worse as it progresses.

Mio Omori is a high school student who supports her impoverished family, working a job that barely covers their basic needs. Desperate for extra income, she accepts an offer to become the maid for her wealthy landlord. However, the landlord's son, Shoei Jinnai, has hidden intentions regarding her employment there. At first, I thought, "What is this nonsense!" as the setup seemed overly clichéd and unrealistic. Yet, what appeared to be a standard 'hates him but falls in love with him' tale unfolds into something more complex, complete with dramatic twists and unexpected turns.

Just as the story grows more remarkable, so too do the characters. Unlike typical airheaded shoujo protagonists, Mio is portrayed as compassionate and capable, though perhaps a bit too trusting and easily exploited. Meanwhile, Shoei, or 'Prince Junnai,' remains the classic two-faced character who only reveals his true self to our heroine. Their shared troubled past adds depth to their romantic dynamic. The supporting characters are also well-developed, contributing effectively to the plot with their own surprises.

The artwork in this manga deserves praise, as it significantly enhances the storytelling. Each character is beautifully rendered with distinct features, and it's clear the mangaka invested effort into both the characters and the detailed backgrounds.

Overall, Desire Climax begins as an intriguing shoujo manga with touches of humor sprinkled throughout. Primarily a dramatic romance, it includes an excessive number of randomly inserted smutty scenes. Midway through, the storyline becomes convoluted, veering off into absurd territory (such as multiple love affairs). Ultimately, it comes down to whether this kind of shoujo manga aligns with your preferences.

*Be advised, this manga contains A LOT of sexual content.*

A fairly standard shoujo/smut manga, but it surprisingly features a deep storyline — intriguing character relationships, motivations, and plots. Let me clarify, there's still plenty of unnecessary romantic drama, yet it remains highly entertaining to read.

The artwork is exceptionally well-done; nothing groundbreaking, but visually appealing. One aspect that truly stands out, however, are the eyes — this manga boasts the most beautifully-drawn eyes I've ever encountered. They're stunning and convey a wealth of emotion.

In conclusion, if you enjoy shoujo/smut, this manga is ideal for you. It even offers unexpected plotlines and character developments, making it a lot of fun!
