Rebirth of the Villainess: Young Master Lu’s Wicked Wife

this is one of my best novel.  so emotional and interesting

Story:  
This story was truly compelling, centered around a young man sent by his family to become a monk. His family appears to be a wealthy feudal lord based on their demeanor. However, complications arise when his much younger brother shows up crying just as bandits appear on the scene. As an older brother, there’s only one choice—attempting to save the younger sibling. But events spiral out of control when the younger brother doesn’t escape in time and gets captured by one of the bandits and their leader. The leader finds the elder brother intriguing and offers him a deal: his submission in exchange for his younger brother's safety. This marks merely the beginning of the tale, as the plot quickly accelerates from here. The sole reason I rated this story a 7 instead of an 8 is due to a confusing section that seemed intended for shock value. Being left unclear about what’s happening for 3-4 pages felt excessive for me. Nevertheless, the author did an incredible job weaving so many elements into the narrative and making them all work seamlessly.

Art:  
While opinions may vary, I found the art to be breathtaking. Though it wasn’t used throughout every panel, I could definitely sense the influence of new software some manga artists are adopting, adding depth and perspective to the illustrations. The art reminded me significantly of the manga *Crimson Cross* (just stylistically, not thematically).

Characters:  
The characters are refreshingly unique. Take the protagonist, the elder brother forced into the role of "uke" to the bandit lord. He defies typical "uke" stereotypes—he isn't weak, girlish, or blindly trusting anyone but his brother, whom he sacrifices everything for. Similarly, the other characters don’t conform to conventional molds, making them captivating to follow. It’s unfortunate the manga didn’t continue further, though at least it wasn’t left with an open-ended cliffhanger like some stories do. It reminds me somewhat of *Deeper Eye*'s Kyo, minus the yaoi aspect.

Enjoyment:  
This was an enthralling read, particularly appealing to me because of my fondness for the feudal era. That said, the setting serves more as a backdrop; the superstitions of the time do impact the protagonist's life since his birth. There are moments in the manga where you might chuckle, though they're rare. For the most part, if you were immersed within the story, you'd find yourself trapped in a world devoid of light, where hope scarcely exists. All that keeps you moving forward is your will to survive and your love for your brother—a purely platonic love, for those curious. Despite being rife with sadness, tragedy, pain, and suffering, it’s absolutely worth reading. The emotions packed into this one-shot are conveyed so powerfully that words struggle to capture it. Isn’t art meant to mirror life?

One word encapsulates my experience reading this manga: "cathartic." Artists are inherently emotional beings, channeling their feelings into their creations. Another artist can often perceive these emotions emanating from another's work more acutely than a casual reader, intensifying the experience regardless of the emotion evoked. Yet, whatever feeling remains, whether for artists or general readers, it should always inspire. The dedication someone puts into an art form like manga, sharing such personal expression with the world, speaks volumes about the author both as a person and an artist. Perhaps this is why I enjoyed this piece so profoundly—I connected with the author in ways I haven’t with others. Interestingly, my profile states, "I walk alone..." If you delve into the manga, you’ll uncover the parallel between me and one of its characters. Rest assured, this isn’t a spoiler since you won’t know who or what I refer to unless you read it.

Overall:  
I believe I’ve covered nearly everything worth saying about this manga. My final plea is simply to read it! I genuinely think you won’t be disappointed but rather delighted. I hope this review helps...and please, do give it a chance. One last note: this isn’t suited for the faint-hearted or those averse to YAOI (boy x boy), as it contains VERY mature content. Don’t say I didn’t warn you...!!!

First of all, the artwork here is captivating, stunning, and cohesive. The sword fighting sequences rank among the best I've encountered in yaoi, evoking memories of Rurouni Kenshin.  

I would never categorize this as a beginner-friendly yaoi. The themes are intense, featuring scenes involving rape, BDSM, and non-consensual acts involving minors. Additionally, the depiction of genitalia is more detailed, and the "after effects" are explicitly portrayed.  

The storyline captivates from the outset, with events that mirror historical realities from medieval times in various countries—both consensual and non-consensual. A common scenario involves a young hostage taken by a bandit king or rival warlord and compelled to serve as their sexual slave.  

Those who prefer "light" or humorous yaoi or shounen-ai may find themselves offended or disturbed. However, for readers seeking more serious and mature content, this is ideal.
