My name was Yuan Junyao, a name my grandmother gave me, meaning “beautiful jade”, although I was not beautiful at all. Actually I was ugly.

I was told that I grew tumours on my face since I wasn’t even 3 months old. My parents had me examined in hospital and the doctor said it was a fibroma and it was benign. It couldn’t kill me but I couldn’t get rid of it because if I did, it may develop to be fatal. My father divorced my mother for this, and not long after, my mother died.

To make a living, I had to do three jobs.

One day I messed with the wrong people and they had my younger brother have a car accident and become a vegetable, and I also lost all my jobs because of it.

I tried to find a new job and happened to know about live streaming. I clicked on it and a man was live streaming in an old ghost-haunted house. The ambience was terrifying.

I followed him online and he didn’t see a real ghost even by the end of the stream. But the ambience was so real it spooked the audience. So he had many viewers who sent him lots of gifts while they watched. I was a little inspired by the idea. Nobody wanted to see the face of the host of a ghost live streaming, which suited me very well…

I've thoroughly enjoyed this work thus far! Despite its horror genre, there's surprisingly minimal violence. The action-packed elements exceeded my initial expectations, and I appreciate how well it maintains an air of mystery, leaving me eager for plot twists that will deviate from conventional assumptions.

The main character (MC) steadily grows stronger and wiser, developing at a moderate pace. She experiences fortunate encounters that boost her support network, yet she remains grounded, acknowledging her vulnerabilities and traumas. What sets her apart is her resilience and humility amidst success.

The male lead (ML) doesn't adhere to typical stereotypes found in Chinese novels. He comes from a complex and wealthy background, but his relationship with the MC appears genuine, despite their initial encounter being based on deception. This adds an intriguing dynamic to their partnership.

Together, they form a fantastic duo in battling malevolent spirits and individuals, with a healthy dose of charming relationship dynamics. If you're a fan of supernatural tales and can handle a hint of horror, this work might be right up your alley.

I would be much happier if the genre remained strictly horror and didn't shift into a cultivation theme. Frankly, I feel a bit deceived by this novel. The male lead (ML) can be described as a character who combines elements from both previous main leads.

FL is a tragic figure who has experienced the loss of her entire family, compounded by constant bullying from her peers due to facial tumors. Despite her hardships, she displays incredible resilience and determination. I genuinely admire her strength. On the brighter side, she finds moments of luck when others come to her aid in times of danger. I have faith that FL's journey will only improve, and she will flourish.

This literary blend is truly invigorating, a harmonious fusion of horror and cultivation elements. The storyline is filled with unexpected twists and turns, making it an engaging read that keeps you hooked for hours on end. The protagonist's character is captivatingly cool, and the overall appeal of the book is undeniable. I highly recommend giving it a try – I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

Wow... don't judge a book by its cover, indeed. Initially, I didn't like the cover, but the intriguing title and description piqued my interest. The story turns out to be quite distinct from what I usually read, as it depicts challenges for the protagonist that aren't typically reserved for the stereotypical beautiful characters.

The narrative is full of unexpected twists, like why the charming and kind-hearted guy suddenly takes an interest in her, or who this mysterious uncle supporting her is. And then there's this twisted character that adds a dark element to the plot – I can't help but imagine myself wanting to throw something at them (laughs).

The translation is top-notch, and I'm eager for more. I really hope the series doesn't get canceled or lose its momentum as it progresses.

I read through the chapters, but skipped over some of the excessive slapstick scenes due to the bewildering foolishness of certain characters. Initially, the story had a eerie vibe as the main character live-streamed her experiences in haunted locations. However, it evolved into a cultivation tale, where characters like Tang Mingli transformed from a typical, privileged youth from the influential Tang family to the underworld king who lost his humanity and memories. My protagonist also underwent a remarkable transformation, going from a vulnerable person with a disfigurement to a descendant of a divine being.

While I'm not against such character developments, I personally prefer stories like "Kaleidoscope of Death," where the supernatural elements maintained a consistent scare factor - at least until the bonus content, which even gave my sister nightmares (which ceased once I read it to her). The story seems to have lost its focus, and a better summary would be: cultivation, hidden abilities, hidden identities, reverse harem, and adoring love interests.

Don't let the cover deceive you; it gives the impression of a terrifying ghost story, but in reality, it's more about watching the protagonist constantly outsmarting those around her.

"It's actually quite enjoyable. Despite not being a fan of horror, the absence of jump scares makes it tolerable. The concept, which revolves around ghost hunting for financial gain, love interest, and an unusual mix, strangely works. The chat discussions are quite entertaining, although the main character's backstory is quite intense."

I truly adore horror tales, but many fail to quench my thirst. This particular story strikes the perfect balance: it offers a subtle hint of horror, a healthy dose of thrilling jump scares, a touch of realism, and an intricate mystery that keeps me hooked. I'm eagerly anticipating the upcoming updates!
