However, when Hinako-sensei created the additional 5 chapters... Well... She introduced something entirely unexpected! And I believe that element of surprise is the reason I've given it such a high rating.
I appreciate her artwork. (Though I do get the feeling that most of her characters resemble Morinaga.)
I adore her storytelling.
I both love and loathe Hinako Takanaga-sensei at the same time.
And I think the final 4 chapters of "Aru hi, mori no naka" are another reason why I can have such mixed feelings about her. <3

I didn't give all 10's just because I absolutely adore Takanaga-sama.
I genuinely loved this. To the fullest extent.
It was incredibly cute seeing those two with ANIMAL EARS~
And the story was charming. But it wasn't just fluff and nonsense. There were emotionally impactful moments as well.
I mean... not that I would have minded if it had been purely fluff. But the fact that there's a compelling story behind the fluff makes it an even more enjoyable read.

The art is even worse than the main manga. It’s a low-effort, sketch-like style. Come on, being a doujinshi is no excuse for that. And it actually keeps getting worse throughout the volumes. Some of those panels are barely legible. Or barely even panels.
The content is heavily fanservice-driven, with the characters licking over each other within the first few pages, so it’s no wonder that rape, an infamous staple of Koisuru Boukun, didn’t take long to happen.
“You’ve raped me.”
“Sorry uwu ;-;”
Truly the pinnacle of BL storytelling. Remember kids, if you force yourself on someone, just say sorry and they’ll fall in love with you because they’ll realize your feelings. You might possibly object with “Don’t kink-shame, some people just enjoy fictional rape.” Sure, as long as you admit this is just porn and has no narrative merit whatsoever.
Yes, storyline-wise, this is even more ridiculous than the parent work. The author seems to forget this takes place in an alternative universe where the main story didn’t actually happen, so these are technically different characters. A "heartfelt" declaration of love after what is essentially a one-night stand is simply laughable. There’s an attempt at a slightly more serious (relatively) story in later volumes, which made it a bit less painful to read, but at this point, the series was still beyond saving.
That said, fans of the franchise will likely enjoy it, and it’s unlikely anyone else will even think of reading this. <p>
