Charlie Rivers is a 14-year-old girl navigating high school, preferring to remain unnoticed. Her life changes when she hears a voice asking for help—a voice only she and one other person can hear. Despite her initial reluctance due to not liking the other person who can also hear it, Charlie agrees to assist. Upon meeting the 'voice,' she discovers it belongs to a unicorn, visible as a horse to others except for its horn which only Charlie can see. By agreeing to help, Charlie becomes part of a group of friends, including the other person who can hear the unicorn, integrating into social circles she had previously avoided. This new involvement drastically alters her routine and personal space. As she continues helping the unicorn, Charlie realizes that returning to her solitary life isn't as appealing as before, and she questions if she truly wants to.

Volume 2: Tip of Other Worlds
Charlie and her friends embark on expeditions to different worlds, searching for the world connected by Griffin Canyon. During this journey, Charlie struggles with developing her relationship with Alex while preparing for these travels. Once the expedition begins, she encounters unexpected wonders in other worlds, yet always worries about a recurring dream where her best friend, Beth, dies. Determined to prevent this nightmare from becoming reality, Charlie contemplates sacrificing the friendship that has become so meaningful to her.
