The sole reason I'm awarding a 9 is due to lingering mysteries surrounding each character that remain unresolved. I doubt the author will reveal these secrets anytime soon. After all, it's been quite a while. Nevertheless, the rest is impeccable. Each character undergoes significant development, portrayed in a compelling manner. I especially appreciate how characters defy initial judgments.
