In the sprawling waste zones of Ashfield, a city choked by the refuse of a broken society, Jack Vesper sorts through discarded junk with no real future in sight. At 25, he's just another misfit, another person tossed aside by the world, now working a grueling job as a garbage sorter. The days are monotonous, but when he stumbles upon a strange, black metal sphere buried deep in the trash, everything changes.

Curious, Jack presses a hidden button on the sphere, releasing a small black chip into his hand. It feels heavy with mystery and potential, too precise to be just another piece of discarded tech. With no one else around on a slow Saturday shift, Vesper pockets the chip and continues his work, unaware that this seemingly insignificant object is about to pull him into a new, dangerous world.

Jack's curiosity gets the better of him, and he travels to a long-forgotten lab on the outskirts of the city. The lab, once a hub for cutting-edge research, is now abandoned, its halls lined with old maps, blueprints, and cryptic notes. As he begins to study the charts, he discovers a book of labyrinths spanning the globe-labyrinths not just made of stone, but of technology and power, their existence hidden from the world. Some of these labyrinths hold secrets of unimaginable value; others, unfathomable dangers.

The chip seems to be a key-a gateway into these labyrinths. As Jack begins to piece together the labyrinth's secrets, he realizes that it could lead him to a power unlike anything the world has ever known. But with that power comes the threat of those who would stop at nothing to control it.

The line between friend and foe blurs, and Vesper must navigate not only the physical maze but the twisted web of secrets and lies surrounding him.

The adventure begins with one small chip-and the future depends on what Jack discovers within the labyrinth's depths.

Really good, ghosts, mediums, and collage students, the character depth got to me... It's about Xiaodan and the cute homicidal ghost kid he adopted, and how everyone seems to have a problem with it.

The world building is fine. We are introduced to some places as well as their internal politics, not much in terms of culture, but I guess still ok. The power system is fleshed out and defined, though the author him/herself will often violate it. There are many fights that just don't make sense, not only based on the damage sustained by the mc but by the survivability of the enemies. It feels like he is just too op, so the author has to use cheap tricks in order to make the fights remotely entertaining. Side characters were somewhat developed at the start (like his father being both proud and jealous of the mc), but their quality has honestly declined. However, I could ignore all of that, afterall the story IS interesting... but what I can't ignore is the MC behavior. He has extreme stupidity masked as curiosity that the author uses to justify nonsensical decision-making to move the plot forward. I don't think a mc must be perfect and always make right choices, but what I dont like is how this mc repeatedly makes wrongs ones and instead of facing consequences, plot armor kicks in and he gets benefits instead. The excuse used by the author that "if something feels forced, it's just that I have not explained the reason behind it yet" can only work so much.  Overall, I feel saddened because the story had great potential, but it just didn't live up to even a fraction of it.

I am no novice when it comes to the Xianxia genre. I have read so many novels in the genre and consider myself a connoisseur. And believe me when I say this novel can compete with the best of them. What the author has done is phenomenal the world and the characters and the lore are so enriched. Wang Wei is up there with the best of the best (the only bad character trait he has that boarders on juvenile is his grudge against his grandfather on his mother’s side, for how intelligent he is it comes across as ridiculous). This novel is darn near flawless and is Leagues above your favourite Xianxia novel if you are reading this review then it means you are curious trust me when I say invest your time in this amazing novel and you will be well rewarded. just a shame I didn’t discover this after it had been completed as waiting for the next chapter is agonising. Oh another point of contention I want to raise is that this novel should be number 1 in the power rankings and all other rankings on here. I have read all the other top 10’s and this novel is far superior to them and should be higher.

The world-building and setting development is done really well, and I can see the aspects of Tornado's character:) I really liked SAO, and I can see the inspo from it! some errors, but all in all an amazing zombie story!

I myself am not a fan of stories that are similar to how Awespec writes, and by that I mean, writing an MC in such a fashion that it seems the author has a vendetta and wants the MC to genuinely suffer time and time again. Dyon Sacharro from rebirth of the nameless immortal god is a great example. MC is a great guy, but instead of challenges, he’s genuinely just forced to suffer. He takes Ls in such a way that it feels like it has less to do with realistic circumstances as it does the author trying to smite him in dark ways

Great novel, but it's starting to go downhill at academy arc because of that curse fate and making everybody look at him like a villain even though he didn't do anything. First of all the cursed fate doesn't make sense at all because Amelia is still living even though she was also fated to die the god of Fire literally said that he do anything about Death and can't save Ren even if he get chose because he's fated to die which is totally bs as another god comes and save Amelia from her death . The curse fate just seems unnecessary at this point
