Miltia was treated as a servant and oppressed by her stepmother and her stepsister because there was no blood relation between her and them. She was having trouble getting enough food to survive every day. Somehow she was able to get by through cooking whatever thing she could find herself.

In the midst of all this, her stepsister, whom was doted on by both her stepfather and her stepmother, along with her fiancé, who was only interested in a woman’s youth and physical appearance, cruelly broke off her engagement in public and forced her to marry the notorious 『Cursed Duke』, the Duke of Lönnrot.

Because of the curse, the duke had a repulsive, monstrous appearance. He was ostracized by a lot of people and grew distrustful of people… At first, he was hard on Miltia, but to Miltia, the duke’s monstrous appearance actually resembled an octopus, an ingredient she had grown used to seeing, so she didn’t find the duke’s appearance to be repulsive. Furthermore, she was actually happier living in the ducal house compared to in her previous county house since her daily necessities were provided by the ducal household.

As the result of her, faithfully serving the 『Cursed Duke』, along with Miltia’s unexpected behaviour, she gradually melted Duke Lönnrot’s cold and hard heart. She was also able to grab ahold of the duke’s stomach through her cooking.

The duke, whose curse was lifted by the cooking of the woman he loved, was actually a very beautiful, young man.

As soon as her stepsister found out about it, she completely changed her demeanor and insisted.

“I want to swap our fiancés!!”

But of course, the duke wouldn’t tolerate such selfishness. Eventually, the people who had ab*sed Miltia reaped what they sowed and fell to their demise.

This is the story of Miltia, a young girl who was ab*sed, scorned and survived through eating whatever things she could get, but she eventually received her happiness and was doted on by the cursed duke.

This is another easy-to-read novel where the villains are predictable and one-dimensional. The plot progresses smoothly, solving problems promptly without unnecessary drama. That's precisely what I enjoy about it - a simple, enjoyable read. The male lead initially comes across as aloof, but once he falls in love with the protagonist, he transforms into a swoony, affectionate character, which I find delightful. The main character's unique upbringing makes her appear somewhat removed from societal norms, but as the story unfolds, we see that she's merely reserved, not cold.

One significant reason I chose to translate this book is the intriguing twist - the male lead is a Cthulhu, or so they describe him as a monstrous sea creature. However, just look at the cover [and, by extension, the manga adaptation's portrayal of the ML] - he's clearly a Cthulhu in disguise! Anyone who disagrees, bring it on! (ง'̀-'́)ง

    Minor Spoiler Alert:
Despite the initial description, the male lead eventually returns to his human form after the curse is broken by the protagonist.

The narrative is incredibly lighthearted, and I can easily devour the entire book in one day. FL's innocence and humor are delightful, and what adds even more enjoyment is the translator's knack for including the perfect memes at the end of each chapter.

The story had a fun, whimsical tone, but the unexpected sexual content seemed out of place, especially given the tags. It's unfortunate because those elements didn't significantly contribute to the plot. They could have been toned down or omitted without affecting the overall charm of the tale, making it suitable for all age groups.

The description of the ex-fiancé's castration by squid venom was unnecessarily graphic and detracted from the story's world-building. The subsequent discussion about unconventional sex education felt irrelevant and could have been skipped or briefly summarized as focusing on communication and mutual pleasure. The tentacle monster's attempt at taking the main character's virginity seemed like an odd tangent, and there were other ways for the sister to create conflict without resorting to that.

In essence, these elements felt abrupt and incongruous within the otherwise light-hearted, fairy tale-esque narrative.

If you prefer a lighter and more carefree reading experience, this novel could be an excellent choice for you. It's filled with lighthearted content and easy-going themes, making it delightfully simple yet incredibly captivating. I've found myself completely absorbed, and the fact that there's a manga adaptation only adds to my excitement. The artwork is exceptional, truly a masterpiece.

I can see at least 4 more spin offs by this book alone. A book about Alpha Alic, a book about the girls and their mate. A book about the her last set of kids, ooh and them being mated to a cat shifter. That'll be good! And a book about the vampire/wolf hybrid!! Please author we need them ...
