In the mechanical metropolis of Archaxia, where steam powers the streets and fate runs like clockwork, Alaric Drozdov awakens to find himself cast as the villain—again. After countless lives ending at a hero's hands, he finally remembers the truth: he's trapped in a cycle engineered by the Chronolith, the mysterious system that controls the city through predetermined stories.

Now, Alaric must navigate a dangerous game: playing the villain while secretly working to break the cycle. But as he gathers unlikely allies—including the very hero destined to kill him—he discovers that defying fate has consequences. With the Chronolith's mechanical enforcer hunting him and the city's poor suffering for his rebellion, Alaric faces an impossible choice: accept his role in the story, or risk destroying everything to change it.
