Watch the animated series first imo, it's always easier to get into novel after watching it's adaptation and this one is really good. Honestly, I read it a while ago so I don't remember how quality was it but I do remember that it was enjoyable
Probably the first novel to call on any significant emotion from me, chapter 128 (I think? Forgot to be honest.) was incredible. I rarely read BL novels as the protagonists are often pathetic and womanly but d*mn, this one blew every expectation I had out of the water.
