Though the plot has potential, I'm unable to conclude it satisfactorily. This isn't really a conventional romance after all. The main characters, MC and ML, are excessively dedicated to their work, leaving little room for a compelling love story. Reading about their constant grind left me feeling drained.

I eagerly anticipated the development of their emotions, but alas, it seemed to drag on indefinitely. I was particularly intrigued by the idea of MC showcasing his strength,超越ML的那种,but that aspect was overshadowed by heavy focus on technical aspects of mechanical engineering and political intrigue.

I had hoped for more, like the mpreg and futuristic setting being the highlights, but instead, I found myself getting bogged down by the details. It's a bit disappointing, to be honest.

"I haven't completed the book yet, but I feel like I need to pause for now. The immersion isn't quite there for me. You know, like the descriptions of armor or mecha; usually, I enjoy following the protagonist's journey as they build these things, but in this case, it's difficult to visualize. The explanations just aren't engaging enough – even though I understand the author's effort, it doesn't resonate with me.

The focus on detailing the construction of armor, mecha, mind control, coding, and so on feels repetitive and doesn't spark any excitement. All I can grasp is that the armor is large and advanced, but that's about it. It's not clicking for me, and I'm feeling a bit exhausted from it all.

I'm genuinely curious about how the main characters will unravel the mystery surrounding the protagonist's life, but for now, I think I'll take a break. This might not be everyone's cup of tea, but feel free to give it a shot! Don't let my opinion discourage you. I'll come back to it later."

"This ranks among the finest books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. The character growth is exceptional, and I appreciate the seamless communication between the main character (MC) and the protagonist (ML), without any unnecessary misunderstandings. The pacing keeps me engaged throughout, ensuring I never experienced boredom, not even for a moment."

Indeed, this narrative is quite impressive with its intriguing plot and commendable character growth. However, the pacing suffers from an excessive focus on unnecessary details, which拖慢了故事节奏. The author frequently repeats the protagonist's attractiveness, which, while I understand the intention, starts to feel excessive and detracts from the overall reading experience. The slow progression often leaves me longing for a more streamlined narrative, and I find myself skipping over many repetitive phrases. Despite the solid storyline, the author's redundant explanations create an uneasy reading sensation.

In summary, the story has promising elements, particularly with the intense enemies-to-lovers dynamic between the main characters, Meng Jinhuai and Duan Hengye, given their complex history as spies, political adversaries, and having a romantic connection. However, the author fails to fully explore this fascinating aspect, instead focusing on research and world-building, resulting in slow character development and underwhelming romance. The potential for deep emotional growth, tension, and vulnerability is squandered, leaving the reader feeling unsatisfied with the superficial portrayal of their relationship. Despite appreciating the initial concept, the lack of depth and focus on the relationship dynamics earns the book only a moderate rating from me.

The novel is a subtle, gradual romance with a balance of light-heartedness and depth. Despite its initial appearance as a comical and fluffy reincarnation story, it actually delves into more profound emotions. Although I generally prefer faster-paced romances, this one is exceptionally well-crafted and doesn't feel tedious.

What I mean by "well-written" is that the characters' emotions come across vividly, evoking a sense of realism. Both the male lead (ML) and female lead (MC) exhibit a cool demeanor. The MC is portrayed as a genius, calm, enigmatic, and reserved, maintaining a guarded distance from the ML due to his character's role. On the other hand, the ML may seem aloof but has a hidden capacity for genuine concern, demonstrating tenderness towards the MC, albeit through poor acting skills according to the MC's assessment.

This is a captivating read for mecha enthusiasts. The author doesn't shy away from intricate details, as the protagonist is a professional mecha builder, evoking memories of the Gundam series, particularly the spaceship elements. However, it leans more towards science fiction with a touch of soft science, acknowledging differences in planet time and rotation, but not gravity, and the unusual single-season characteristic often seen in such narratives. The romantic aspect is quite minimal; the story primarily revolves around mecha warfare, politics, and a sprinkling of esoteric elements. For those who love mecha, this book offers an intriguing experience.

If you prefer a fast-paced narrative with intense action and dramatic confrontations, "Marshal's Cannon Fodder Spouse" might not be your ideal choice. The storytelling pace is deliberately slow, with the main characters, DHY and the Marshal, embroiled in a complex political intrigue from the beginning. However, rather than focusing heavily on external events, the book delves deeper into their emotional journey, particularly Hengye's personal growth and evolving relationships, which were the two aspects that resonated most with me.

The other standout feature was the world-building. Although some might view it as filler, I genuinely appreciated the attention given to showing characters engage in their daily activities, such as Hengye teaching and researching, and glimpses into Meng Jinhuai's responsibilities and his men's lives. The author didn't delve into extensive technical or political details, but the attempt to create a believable and internally consistent backdrop was a pleasant surprise.

While there were no groundbreaking innovations, the writing felt grounded and realistic. The story maintained a solid 3 out of 5 stars, though my personal rating was bumped up by half a star due to the charming character Su-ge, who brought a lively touch to every scene he appeared in (and perhaps even my aging heart). If you enjoy character-driven narratives with a slower pace and a sweet, heartfelt romance, this book could be a good fit for you. The relationship between the main characters was both healthy and endearing, although it would have been nice if the pacing allowed for a bit more depth and development.

I truly appreciate the intricate plot progression. Initially, I found it a bit bewildering, but my interest grew with each passing chapter. The pacing is gradual, and尽管它并非以浪漫为核心,但我很享受角色之间的微妙互动。目前而言,我对故事的后续发展充满期待。

The story desperately requires an editor to trim down the excessive scenes, as only about one in five chapters contains significant plot points. The unnecessary fillers would be tolerable if they were engaging, but unfortunately, they fall flat. The narrative voice is shockingly平淡, lacking any emotional depth, which is killing my interest. A bit more passion or emotion would go a long way.

Moreover, the descriptions are shallow and fail to adequately convey crucial details. The settings are poorly developed, making it difficult to visualize them. The scene transitions are jarring and disrupt the flow, frequently pulling me out of the story. Immersion is next to impossible with the current state of the narrative.

The narrative is engaging with a unique premise, as the protagonist, a skilled mecha designer, plays an active role in the story. However, the pacing is slow and turns out to be my main issue. The book becomes monotonous due to the excessive information dumping in every chapter. Initially, I found it intriguing when the author delved into the intricacies of the mecha design, but soon realized that the level of detail often strayed into made-up explanations, which felt unrealistic and difficult for readers without prior knowledge of the mecha world.

The author attempts to educate the audience about the technical aspects, but it comes across as an overwhelming load, especially when the general public's understanding is not assumed. If the author could simplify the jargon and maintain a balance between description and plot progression, I might have continued reading. Unfortunately, after reaching chapter 61, I've decided to move on from this book.

I have mixed feelings about this novel. On the positive side, Duan Hengye and Meng Jinhuai are captivating characters whom I genuinely adore. Their love story develops authentically, and their trust for each other grows swiftly, making their connection incredibly sweet. However, I'm disappointed with the lack of emotional depth due to the author's choice not to delve into those intimate scenes. For instance, towards the end, there's a highly anticipated reunion after an emotional event, but instead of showing the reunion, the narrative abruptly shifts to the ML searching for the MC, and we never witness their meeting. This happens frequently, where tender or touching moments are either truncated or completely omitted without any explicit sexual content.

Though some readers might criticize plot holes or character development, I could overlook those issues if there were more intimate scenes between the protagonists. The author focuses too much on their individual journeys, which is a missed opportunity, as their relationship has incredible potential. The story could have been much stronger if there were extended moments exploring their connection.

In summary, I do enjoy the tale, but the author sacrifices the heartwarming parts for extensive exposition. I'd recommend reading it for Duan Hengye and Meng Jinhuai's characters, but be prepared to skip over the lengthy information dumps.
