Well I don't hate it since I can put up with the arrogance currently in the 1600s it's the normal extremely special mc stuff though right now I'm cooling off after seeing mc 'give out' talent 😮‍💨😮‍💨

I was hesitant to dive into 'Kagen no Tsuki' after having a tough experience with Nana, which I ended up abandoning, and being left in limbo with 'Paradise Kiss.' However, the latter turned out to be a rewarding journey with a realistic conclusion that suited the series, and I eventually embraced and cherished it.  

This time around, the manga wasn't as emotionally taxing as its predecessors but possessed all the ingredients for success and enjoyment right from the start. It genuinely felt like I was watching a film. The events progressed seamlessly, and even though we were aware of many critical aspects of the unfolding story, it remained thrilling to uncover all the details and accompany the four friends on their emotional adventure.  

Story: 9/10 - Art: 8/10 - Characters: 8/10 - Enjoyment: 10/10 - Overall: 9/10  

'Kagen no Tsuki' is mysterious and captivating, yet it doesn't delve so deeply that you feel exhausted after reading it, unlike the mangaka's other works I mentioned earlier.  

It's an excellent short read, and I highly recommend it. I also wish the mangaka had expanded it into a series centered around the four friends as they explore additional mysteries.

The standout feature of this manga is undoubtedly its story. As I delved into it, elements like the characters and the art took a backseat. Initially, I thought this was all there would be—a simple tale of the protagonist meeting a boy who intrigued her. Honestly, I hadn't read the synopsis, which might explain my initial impression. However, as I progressed through the chapters, I COULDN'T STOP READING. I was desperate to uncover what happened next.

The narrative captivates you, grips you tightly, and extracts every ounce of emotion possible. It's a story about true love. It's about life and death. It's about loss. It's about believing in an afterlife where we go when we pass on. It's about hope—the unyielding hope that resides within us. This manga made me realize that nothing surpasses the importance of love—not merely romantic love, but all forms of love we often overlook.

The way the story unfolds is among the finest I've ever encountered. It begins by seeming superficial, then gradually pulls you into depths so profound that you may struggle to keep pace if you don't fully grasp the unfolding events.

Although I mentioned earlier that the characters and other aspects faded while reading, I did notice how impactful it was that some of the main characters were children. This added authenticity to the story, highlighting that unconditional, powerful love only the pure-hearted can truly offer.

Overall, this manga left me deeply saddened, bringing tears to my eyes. The mere thought of never being with the person I love again, or them forgetting me for the greater good, is heart-wrenching beyond measure.

JUST READ IT. It's one of the greatest stories ever. Even if the artwork isn't exceptional or other elements are average, the story more than compensates for it.

Last Quarter… The final phase of the lunar cycle before the moon slips into perpetual darkness. Kagen no Tsuki (Last Quarter) is a Shoujo, Supernatural, Mystery, Romance that presents a narrative unlike anything Ai Yazawa has created before, yet it still retains the style for which she is famous.

Much like Ai's more renowned manga, Nana, Kagen no Tsuki begins with an extraordinary prologue—one of my favorites, in fact. An unsuspecting reader might not realize it's a prologue until it dawns on them. It's then that the story truly unfolds. Without giving too much away, Kagen no Tsuki follows a group of four children who inadvertently get entangled in another girl's quest to find the man she longs for. However, numerous mysteries surround this young girl: Who is she? Why can't she leave the abandoned house? And what is her true desire? With romance playing a secondary role, the kids take it upon themselves to unravel these mysteries and reach some kind of resolution in this profound case. With a complex array of plot developments and unexpected twists, it's no surprise that everything eventually ties together to form a complete masterpiece of a story.

The four children mentioned are not the type you'd expect to be in such a surreal tale, yet they become the characters who steal the spotlight. There isn't much character development for them, as it's all reserved for the young girl in question (Mizuki), and I must say she was developed quite well. Nonetheless, I would have liked to see more romantic growth between the children and other characters, and I wish some characters, like Mizuki's friend, hadn't been pushed aside as if they were insignificant.

Regarding the artwork, Ai fans or pretty much any shoujo manga enthusiast would adore it for its intricate attention to detail, such as the aesthetic features of the abandoned house and the expressions in one's eyes. On the other hand, those not accustomed to this style, especially when it comes to character designs, might find it challenging to adjust.

Overall, Kagen no Tsuki was a brief, surreal story that conveyed so much in such a short time. What's intriguing is that the mystery surrounding the young girl resembles one of those cliché scary (tragic love) stories someone might tell in a spooky setting when the mood calls for it, yet there was nothing cliché about this story. It was a touching tale about reclaiming lost love, with the help of some compassionate individuals. Maintaining such a somber atmosphere throughout, a bittersweet ending is probably the best one could hope for. So, in the end, is this the kind of mysterious story you're seeking? You have until the conclusion of the Last Quarter to discover the answer.
