Ryoichiro Himura leads a quiet life as a salary man at a telecommunications company in Sagajima. His routine existence is disrupted when he intervenes in a violent mugging and finds himself inexplicably unharmed while the attacker dies. The unsettling event is compounded by the sudden death of his pet parakeet, Sunny. Struggling with these bizarre occurrences, Ryoichiro discovers he is a "shinigami conduit," unintentionally directing death toward others.
