Instead, it is a masterful exploration of dramatic irony, where trust and open communication could potentially resolve conflicts, yet the characters find themselves unable to have those crucial conversations at the right moments. There are numerous compelling internal reasons preventing them from voicing their thoughts and desires.
I particularly appreciate the harem theme, with the main character being hesitant but determined to navigate it. Their efforts to break free and pursue opportunities to dismantle the harem dynamics are commendable. As a fan of such narratives, I eagerly await the translation to catch up with the original raws.
As they grow together, it seems their paths will lead to a blissful future... but fate has other plans. Spoiler alert: Sien awakens as a Saintess of a Goddess and is called upon to fight against the Demon King, tearing them apart. Lost without a clear purpose, our protagonist struggles to find peace.
Although the initial hook of the story hasn't concluded, the narrative so far captivates with its exploration of the challenges that come with losing one's sense of direction in life. I eagerly anticipate the upcoming chapters, highly recommending this engaging read for those who appreciate authentic character development and emotional depth.
Nonetheless, the novel itself is an enjoyable read. By the way, the protagonist's loyal comrade is incredibly heartwarming.
Reflecting on Alex Woods' review, upon rereading, I can see that the female protagonists might appear rather passive. Initially, I didn't perceive it, suggesting that it might not be a significant issue for the majority of readers.
1. The protagonist (heroine) makes an action.
2. The main character (MC) misinterprets this and takes offense without attempting to clarify.
3. They resort to making the heroine feel guilty for their perceived error.
4. The heroine eventually realizes her mistake and regrets it.
5. The story concludes with a resolution.
This formula seems to be prevalent in the author's previous works like "Why Are You Becoming Villain Again" and "Pretending To Have a Girlfriend," where misunderstandings drive conflicts that could have been resolved through open communication. I find the MC's camaraderie with his fellow mercenaries, specifically their friendship, more engaging and interesting to read about.
