This book had the potential to be one of my top picks, but unfortunately, towards the midpoint till the end, a nonsensical misunderstanding occurred that nearly made me give up.

Here's a spoiler alert: The protagonist seemingly abandons everything for the main female character (FMC) to pursue a "better life" and wed the prince, instead of staying with her. To achieve this, he pretends to cheat and subsequently distances himself from the FMC without any explanation.

This novel is an isekai story where the protagonist dies alone and elderly due to his unattractive appearance, and then reincarnates into a handsome noble from a humble background. However, since he's not the eldest son, he's destined to be married off to the monstrous daughter of the most powerful duke, known as a "goblin." Despite her appearance, she's a kind and innocent girl, which prompts the MC to want to marry her despite the circumstances.

The plot adds depth with details like the MC's previous life as a golem engineer in a post-war, fantasy world with magic. He realizes that her transformation is linked to a magical ailment and uses his past knowledge to save her. The story also explores themes of loneliness, as the MC, having been a recluse in his former life, empathizes with the protagonist's social isolation.

However, there are drawbacks. A misunderstanding creates unnecessary drama, and the revelation that she possesses immense magical power seems unrealistic given her family's efforts to cure her. The MC's reluctance to exploit her for power, status, and wealth is questionable, especially considering the potential suitors she could attract. The dynamics surrounding the First Prince's treatment of her seem contrived.

Nonetheless, the book offers a heartwarming aspect where the MC tries to heal both her and himself by seeing her goodness. There may be moments where readers might find the MC frustrating, but his actions are somewhat understandable. The sudden introduction of magic can be a surprise, but it doesn't detract from the enjoyable parts of the story.

In summary, while there are flaws, the novel's focus on healing and self-discovery, along with the MC's relatable character development, makes it worth a read. Be prepared for some frustrating moments and unexpected magical elements, but they shouldn't overshadow the positive aspects of the narrative.

This novel is undeniably charming. The protagonists are captivating, and the character development maintains a consistent tone throughout. Unlike many others in its genre, it doesn't rely on unnecessary filler, which sets it apart. The dual narrative, typically used to exaggerate the main character's appeal in romance stories, here serves as a refreshing twist, akin to a crossover between lighthearted boy's rom-coms and traditional shoujo storytelling. If you're looking for a feel-good romance with a more dynamic male lead, this book is definitely worth a read.

I cannot comprehend why anyone would rate this any less than 5 stars. It's an outstanding novel with a delightful romance and an utterly captivating plot, particularly for its genre. The unexpected twists (I won't spoil it) keep the story fresh and engaging. The narrative shift between perspectives effectively demonstrates how two individuals perceive the same event from vastly different angles, enriching the tale. Currently, this is my top choice, and my only minor concern is the lack of frequent updates. I'm eagerly awaiting more content, darn it!

It initially had potential to be my favorite feel-good story, but they botched it so badly that now I despise it with great intensity. I intended to rate it one star, but mistakenly clicked something else. Many positive reviews seem to come from readers who finished the book, so don't let those deceive you. Despite thinking I was prepared because I knew the general plot, the ending still caught me off guard. The story started strong, with the protagonist seemingly on a path to happiness, but then disaster struck: the main character publicly broke off his engagement, falsely accusing her of infidelity to marry the prince, leaving her heartbroken and devastated. As the drama unfolded and characters slowly uncovered the truth, I expected a satisfying conclusion, but instead, the narrative abruptly ended, leaving me with this frustrated review.

What a disappointing mishap! The story started strong but unfortunately, the author made a sudden genre shift, turning it into a cheap drama. Don't let the initial sweet chapters deceive you; the tone quickly turns sour, especially in Chapter 14. Despite knowing the drama might resolve later, I couldn't overlook the negative impact on the main character's portrayal. He comes across as self-centered, arrogant, and suffering from a severe case of 'main character syndrome.'

Save yourself the trouble and avoid this abysmal work at all costs. To give you a brief overview of the issue:

    Spoilers follow:

Out of the blue, the protagonist who was previously perceived as unappealing and had no marriage prospects receives unexpected marriage proposals from not just one, but two crown princes, with no logical explanation.

The main character, driven by his own thoughts, believes the best course is to end their engagement, believing it will elevate the female lead (FL) to queenly status – conveniently overlooking the concept of true love, which seems to mean nothing to him.

In a despicable move, he publicly attends a ball with another woman, holding hands, unilaterally breaks off the engagement without prior consent, and even admits to impregnating someone else.

    Ugh, what a charming display!

This could have been an excellent 5-star read, but the author took a disastrous dramatic turn in Chapter 19, which significantly marred the story for me. I believe a 3-star rating is quite generous given the content. The opening chapters, however, were undeniably exceptional, earning them a perfect 5/5. Unfortunately, from that point on, the narrative devolves into trash, despite the relatability of the character's struggles – which, in this case, an 82-year-old with low self-esteem, could potentially justify. If not for those captivating beginnings, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a 1/5. I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this book.

I don't comprehend the MC's thought process. It appears that their acceptance of a potential marriage partner doesn't depend on whether they're a human or a pig (as an animal). The protagonist seems content with whatever comes their way, be it a female human or a pig. They lack a sense of self or personal preferences.
