“You, that’s His Majesty the Emperor, you know!?”

“Is that more important than a steamed bun?”

Yui Mei has two secrets.

First, she retained the memories of her past life. Second, it is highly probable that she is a daughter of the Sai Kingdom’s Emperor.

As a certified die-hard fan of Chinese dramas in her past life, she willingly participated in the court lady selection just for the sake of seeing the imperial harem in the flesh.

The protagonist behaves authentically as a contemporary Japanese character, which is fitting for the setting. However, the secondary characters, particularly the antagonists, exhibit a decent level of "Chineseness" that aligns with an imperial harem theme. Alas, many of the protagonists come across as too laid-back or perhaps overly rational, which doesn't quite resonate with the typical dynamics of a Chinese-centric story. I've encountered numerous narratives where characters lose common sense and act foolishly when fixated on a single objective.

I'm truly grateful for a refreshing change from my usual reading lineup, and I stumbled upon this gem! Thanks to the diligent translators for their hard work. Not only are the chapters adorable, but I've also gained valuable insights through them. I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment. Heartfelt appreciation to the translators for bringing this novel to life.

The addition of this fresh perspective to the imperial harem or court setting offers a much-needed break from the conventional plotlines where protagonists solely focus on vengeful quests and权力追求. This protagonist introduces a more realistic approach, which endears her to readers. The translation quality is commendable, resulting in a highly enjoyable reading experience for those who appreciate this genre. If you've grown tired of the clichéd and overly dramatic主角设定 and stories, this is a breath of fresh air that will surely entertain.

This is an exceptionally heartwarming and cozy tale that progresses at a leisurely pace. However, it skillfully focuses on nurturing the deep connections between Yui Mei and the other characters.

It's quite challenging to come across a mob character who isn't foolish,兼具医学知识又非刺客,这样的主角设定确实罕见。故事节奏不紧不慢,暗流涌动的剧情在那些每章都让人捏把汗的悬疑桥段中,为我带来了心灵上的疗愈。

This book effectively demonstrates the stark contrast between the protagonist's pre-transmigration existence, marked by hardships, and their newfound happiness in the story. I find the character's passion for food incredibly charming, as it stems from a relatable and well-justified backstory. It's a delightful change of pace that truly captivates my interest.

In a Chinese costume drama, the anime character surprisingly claimed to recall her past life while being a fan of such shows, but her lack of cultural understanding was apparent. She interrupted the crown prince's consultation with a doctor, behaved improperly, and didn't exhibit any authenticity for her supposed era. Her actions resembled a tourist visiting a new place without prior research, coming across as naive rather than knowledgeable. Despite her claimed intelligence (excluding the assassin stereotype), her decisions were somewhat foolish. The story could be seen as a subpar adaptation of "Kusuriya no Hitorigoto."

While I initially found it disappointing, it's still a decent read for some light entertainment. One should just mentally set aside any expectations based on typical Chinese novel tropes.

Upon rereading this, I realize I might have forgotten why I originally wrote this review, as it's been three years. Perhaps my opinion could change or the rating, but for now, that's how I remember it.

"It's indeed an excellent narrative, distinct from Kusuriya no Hikoto. Despite some initial criticism, the rest of the story captivates, particularly with its intriguing twist involving a reincarnated character that brings unforeseen plot developments."
